I've been using Gibbs oil for a long time. I use it at work for precision gauges. It doesn't dry and cause precision gauges to stick like other light oils do.

This would be the beginning of Ann's part of the story.
First is the write up while for sale mentioned above. Second is where she found it. We call it "brokered" as she paid the estate and title went from Gerald to her. We have all the parts we replaced like drivers valve cover. One on it now is from a 69 Chevelle and nice. Surprising how many different valve covers there are. This was an exact match. Air cleaner lid is off a 69 chevelle and decent. Decal is suspect? Air filter is close I think??? Pics are the rotten doors and floors now. We just about did not bid as it really looked scary. Glad we did and were shocked when we actually put eyes and paws on it. https://barnfinds.com/375-hp-1969-ch...hevelle-ss396/ https://www.chevelles.com/threads/19...-ebay.1161770/ |

This is what the little rust blisters in paint left behind.
No idea about the paint looking different- blotchy colors. Not like that in person and car buffed out to be pretty shiny. See last pic. Receipt from body shop in glove box from fall 1970. repaint area of quarter and replace moulding. Under $40.00 Found it pass side in front of wheel opening. No visible damage inside quarter. Must have been scratched to bare metal as they primed area. Did not buff that area and you can see it if you look close. Spot on left rear roof that was touched up also. Definitely needs a paint job but not while it is here. Motor Assy was brush painted with lemans blue PPG lacquer. Last pic is drivers' floor in as- found condition. Pretty easy to clean up. |
Got this today. Fits in nicely.

Gerald picked it up 2/26/69. |

I believe most of the Delco caps in 69 were non-R type and the R caps started either late 69 model run, or the 70 model year. |

Thanks for the reply.
Some think it is wrong, and we do not know so it is being kept like everything else that came with car. The "R" cap is the same FWIW. Pics are some new additions |
Cool fuse kits!

Fuse box is "OLE BLUE" and Henry Williams [R.I.P.] had me check fuses to see if any factory ones were left. That is what I found and then of course the hunt was on for more. Kits are 1968 but were really cheap, $70 total for both here. Can I have 10 more please? |

stuff
Pic 1 is drivers headrest Pic 2 is hood insulation showing chicken wire pattern. Was told it is in upside down? Staying like it is right or wrong. Pic 3 is one of the diverter valves Pic 4 is smog pump bracket. 1 of the short bolts is wrong [TR] Pics 5 & 6 are drivers side wiper blade. Pass side same. One of Henrys [RIP] many minute details. Pic 7 is Alt mount stuff. Pic 8 is wiring holder on LF inner fender. Another Henry detail. Pic 9 is yellow crayon "SS" on drivers' side of front valance under grille. Gibbs oil on it. Henry detail again. Pic 10 is emissions decal on rad plate. This is the one that the high-quality re-pop ones were copied from. Pic of it in ad. |

more stuff
Pic 1 is paper tag on steering box. Cannot really read it. Pic 2 is deck lid stickers and shows the 2-ink marks on weatherstrip. Henry detail Pic 3 is the other 29297 diverter valve with 69 hoses and three 1/69 dated clamps. Pic 4 is RF brake showing yellow paint on rotor and factory brake pads still 3/4 there. Paper tag on backing plate is missing. Can clearly see where it was. Pic 5 is spare wheel and new condition factory tire. 1 6 9 date on wheel. All 5 wheels are identical. Valve cap is wrong. Pic 6 is throttle sable bracket showing phosphate finish. Quite a few parts are like this. Pic 7 is CN paper tag on PB hose. Faint ink markings on hose but cannot get pic of them. Henry detail Pic 8 is rear springs- tags Pic 9 is little plug wire bracket on RH valve cover Pic 10 is top of LH muffler. RH same. These are welded to double wall head Pipes. Tailpipes are not factory and no tips. All hangers- clamps are factory. Note mufflers are dated AFTER build date AND delivery date by a few days. Henry told me of a new 69 sold near him that had chambered exhaust. Buyer could not live with the noise so dealer changed it. Henry offered this as a possibility on "OLE BLUE". Gerald had passed so no questions could be asked. Nothing about this in records. The set aside explanation does not work as car was sold 3 days prior to dates on mufflers. Mufflers both had outlet pipe issues so are not on car. Double wall head pipes are still on car and useable. |

A ton of great documentation there...

Thanks
Great photos. Thanks for sharing. Love all the details.

THANKS TO ALL.
Thread kinda jumped the tracks. If it is not offending anyone I will add more later. As you can see Gerald really liked LeMans blue and a paint brush. Plug wires are repops as are the rad hoses. Still need 3 more hose clamps and 4 more NOS 1Q69 plug wires. Throttle return spring is wrong also. All 5 wheels have same 1 6 9 dates. 1 low beam is changed. I put a T3 in but date is wrong. Showed the only worn spot in interior. Drivers seat top outer shows a trace of wear. The generous person here had another MERRICK frame for us. We bought a 69 OHIO plate and it and the second MERRICK frame will be permanent residents on front. Any particular details desired let us know. Car is put up now but we can get at it some. HAPPY NEW YEAR. Dave |

Completed plate frame- plate project.
Will take our chances on wrong front plate. Plates that were on it had "MEDINA" but that was not done in 1069. Keeping those along with everything that came with car. Big "Thank You" to a generous person here for the frames. Did not want recognition and we will honor that. Picked more NOS goodies up for it and will add that when car is back out for more documenting. |

Sticker may be newer than 1969 but we wanted it anyway. Looking for more caps like this one. Will pay good money for REAL ones. Need 3 |
What a great Chevelle. I was soooo tempted when it was for sale!
Glad it went to someone who understands the significance of the originality of the car. It's in good hands. |
Dave you have a great car and I believe your the best person to care for it moving foward.

Thanks all.
To set record straight "OLE BLUE" is Anns car. I am just the obsessed babysitter. She thinks I am a few steps off the deep end but she understands. She drove a 68 SS hardtop 79- 83 with a 454 4 spd so she has a few now. Car is well oiled and will stay that way. We are not car show people but want to share details with any interested. The Boss and her car on way home from Cleveland and at home She could not get the key out. She did not have it in reverse. |
----Medina. My home town. I don't know the car, but in my defense I was attempting an education at Ohio University (that ultimately failed) during 69. I did find time to buy a new 435 Corvette from Ed Stinn though....Bill S

I did not finish at the U of M either.
Address on title was on Valley Drive in Medina OH. Must have moved there from Cleveland in 1995 as that was when the title- registration was updated. He kept detailed records of mileage, dates, oil changes, maintenance and oil consumption. Will check next time we are at box. |
Dave this car is great, thanks for documenting my car is a 02D Framingham car I'm amazed how complete yours is - how many miles on it? Anns very lucky

24K We have a long list of things to look at when it warms up here. Will add all here if nobody minds. Finding out some items are not easy to find. Still need a couple 4/68 or 1/69 clamps, 3 valve caps like one in pic, FOUND do not need these anymore NOS 1Q69 plug wires [need 4 more] , NOS 3192824 front shocks dated late 68 throttle return spring. AND pretty much anything "MERRICK" related |

There is a thread on "Team Chevelle" about intake bolts, so I took a few new pics.
Jeff covered 65- 67 well and this is a 69. Car is still put away, so some are older pics. All are hardware. Pics 1- 3 are intake bolts on car. There are 15 like this. The RF is a bolt with a stud on top for alternator bracket Car does not have a bracket on the fuel block like Marty's COPO. Pic 4 is one type of repop intake bolts being talked about Close but for sure not exact Pics 5- 6 are one of 8 flanged exhaust manifold bolts. They are in the outboard 4 ports The other 8 are not flanged and are in the center ports. They do not have the odd shallow thread either. Will get pics of one when car comes out Pic 7 is the long bolt holding smog pump in bracket Pic 8 is bolt holding diverter valve to extension Pic 9 is bolts holding pulley on smog pump Pic 10 is wheel stud and all 20 are identical. |
