Not the one I was thinking about. BUT a convert, I don't think so. Never heard the "talk" on NCRS website when I was there about ""more"" ZL1's hiding in the weeds. Haven't had the interest in Corvettes in the last 6-7 years, moved to full sized Chev restorations.... |

A really impressive collection, but as has been stated, not a lot of attention to correctness or realness of many of the cars. Would like to see pics of all the numbers on the 67 Z/28. |
That for sure is a fake tag. One of the obvious ones!
|
Anybody have any info on car A13? 1970 Z28, black/black. Lots of little details to fix & a bit tired looking, but anybody here know drivetrain details?
Thanks |
Don't know a thing about it. 3 pics. That's it. Not much more in the description. Some odd things stick out; looks like a spray painted booster, someone chromed the fender braces, and a really odd GM sticker on the upper alt bracket. I am guessing a few more minutes of "where's waldo" would yield some other issues.
It is a shame these cars weren't vetted in advance of the auction. They should just be represented for what they are. I have already commented on two fake tags on pretty high end cars. Hope no one gets burned. Museum is still open to the public between now and the auction, but I don't know how closely one would be able to inspect. I fear that there will be no bargains given the publicity and the notariety of the current owner. I mean no disrespect to the owner. Just the fact that he acquired all these cars is impressive. Just wish it were handled differently. One day is set aside for pre-auction inspection. Having said that, given the description below, I would take it to mean this car does not have its original engine, but does have a CTB suffix motor, either a real one or a restamp. Just can't tell. I would also take "Re-finished in Tuxedo Black with white sport stripes" to mean it is a color change. Also don't know if "rally sport split bumper" means it is a true rally sport, or if it just got the split bumper. Anyone going to be there? I have only seen one post from a member here indicating he is going; and I know he would like some help vetting two or three cars he may be interested in. This is it for description: 350/360 HP "CTB" suffix engine 4-speed manual transmission Power brakes Power steering Bucket seats Center console Rally Sport split bumper Re-finished in Tuxedo Black with white sport stripes Dual exhaust with headers Original Protect-O-Plate Original vehicle invoice |
BTW, I know this sounds crazy, but my favorite vehicle in the auction:
The 57 Cameo in tropical turquoise. |
I really like that Cameo too. Sharp truck.
You cant see it good but is the wiper motor on A13 for a non RS car? |
Thanks Lynn. I’m going to the auction. I live 60 miles south of there in the winter. Hopefully they will let me inspect the cars closely.
|
I am sure it will be a lot of fun. Post pics when you can.
Would like to go, but I am not in a position to buy anything right now. |

It IS winter, what you doin' still here ... We have a vrbo reserved in Homosassa in Feb. Can't wait to get out of the snow and cold for a couple weeks. Way too late for the auction, but I'm in Lynn's place anyway. Dumped all our disposable cash in a move and new pole building last year. |

It looks like there are now more pictures and information on the cars on Mecum's website. Some of the cars even have documentation posted.
Here is a picture of the 66 GTO convertible and it's PHS documentation. It looks like this one wasn't originally black. |

Here's the window sticker for the 1 of 1 known "L89" 68 Chevelle SS.

The silver 69 Camaro is the one I saw at the Goodguys in Columbus in '06 and the Super Chevy Show in St. Louis in '12. Here is all the "documentation" for it being a Berger sold COPO Camaro. The last Berger COPO Camaro is N649339.

LOL - Up north with the fam for the holidays. Driving back down to FL soon. Stopping on the way to check in with James on the Pace Car resto progress. Looks like a lot of fake/incorrect stuff going through the Musclecar City sale. Owner is probably keeping the best cars for his personal collection. |
Berger Camaro POP

The POP has the current Grand Rapids zip code, this is not the 1969 Berger zip code. |

All of the documents shown for the alleged Berger COPO are reproduction. Poorly done, to say the least.
N672561 was final-assembled on or about August 19, not September 23. The body number on the w/s is for ZL1 #3. For '69 options were listed in alphabetical order, by ECL. Floor mats [B37] are listed after D55; U63, PL5 and N40 are also out of order. The destination charge is incorrect; most likely was $26.45 as seen on real Berger docs for a Z/28 and COPO. The w/s and shippers copy were part of a multi-layer carbon paper form. All the system-generated info was identical. These two don't match. The w/s is missing the dealer order number seen on the shipper; the body numbers differ. Many of the errors appear to have been copied from the really bad repro w/s that was displayed with ZL1 #3 many years ago. Photo on page 200 of John Hooper's 1969 Camaro book. At least they had the decency to label it a replica. |

Also 1 of 1 with "Powder" steering :haha: |
That helps you drive in the snow!

I’m in Sarasota right now. Gonna try to get to the museum before it closes. Not in the market to buy anything right now.

I got your emails. What cars there did you want to take home? Best Regards, Drew |
The 67 Z, if it was real! There was an L78 camaro I wouldn’t mind having either! Strangely, there were no 3rd gen Camaro’s. I need a 3rd gen Z to complete my collection! I guess they weren’t muscle cars!

I had an '88 IROC with the HO LB9 305, 5 speed and G92 high performance rear axle. I was always under the impression this was a dog engine, but that changed when I ran it thru the gears and it was still barking the 8" wide Gaterback tires slamming 3rd. That little car was a lot faster than I ever expected. |
Silver COPO sold for $297,000. Someone will be upset
