anyone remember the International Race of Champions (IROC) ?
They used 1974 Camaros and the #7 Car was found and restored here is an article on the IROC series developed by Roger Penske https://www.hagerty.com/media/car-pr...r-with-desire/ |
Didn't AJ Foyt drive the bright Green one in IROC?
|
I'm pretty sure they ran 4 races in the old IROC series, 2 on road courses and 2 on ovals. The drivers changed cars for each race so no driver drove the same car twice, unless it was done totally at random; I don't remember for sure. I do remember that in the 1974 series everyone thought the black #7 was the fastest car.

A modern interpretation or street car clone of a '74 IROC race car would be a really cool ride.

Here's another Lime (Code 40) '74 Z28 that was on NastyZ28 years ago. Pictures seem to show it also had green interior although there was an automatic instead of the 4-speed.
It does still have the original '74 only grille! Those are pretty hard to come by. https://i.imgur.com/e02Q1sz.jpg https://i.imgur.com/jDjOFAs.jpg https://i.imgur.com/LA3IYfg.jpg |
I have always thought those 74 Z28 were neat with the stripes. There is on local yo me that a guy did for is sister hell 30 yrs ago. Black int, 4sp not sure if it's an AC car, but the body is pearl white with a pearl lime green stripes. Always liked that look over the years.
I'm actually looking at a '78 Z28 just because it's my buddys old car that I spent a lot of time in, nice color combo, and could make a great driver car but it'd been sitting and need the lacquer paint striped and redone. Would go base clear now. I like the '78 over the later ones as it still has the "cockpit" style wrap-around dash on the early gen 2's. '79 has the fatter dashes. |
Whats one of these worth if its all original and a 4 speed?

Are the 4 speeds Muncie or T10?
|
Early build cars were M21 Muncies, Later built were T-10's.

Man, this thread is getting me fired up to find one!!

I'll sell probably the nicest unrestored one on the planet for 75K. 900 miles. :-)

Not looking to buy Charlie but how about posting a pic or 2? Sounds COOL!

There's extensive pics of that under 1000 mile 74Z on NastyZ28. Talk about an incredible find!

I saw this today when I was moving some stuff around. sorry the pics are so yellow, but the magazine was a june 74 and very discolored.
|
I remember reading in I think Michael Lamm's The Great Camaro that the 1974 Z28 striping option didn't come out right by the company that made them for GM. They had white finishing where the original design was supposed to be clear. So the striping only looks like it was originally designed to on a white Z28.

Cool article, thanks for sharing. Is the RAIV a Judge?

What are you asking for the whole camaro?
|
My first car in high school was a 74 Z28. It was metallic blue with Hurst Hatch T tops. Loved that car. Built a 400 for it and had 3:73 gears. Doing a burnout would pop the T top latches loose. Sold it when I went to college. Cannot track it down now.
|
Stihl, that reminded me of my first car. I had a 1976 Rally Sport with the weak-kneed 305 2bbl and when I pulled out of my street and hit the gas, my passenger side Hurst Hatch T-Top shot off the car into the woods. I had to stop traffic and go into the woods to find it, unscathed, lol.

What is the asking price for the 1974 z28
