We are working on room rates at the Holiday Inn... there is a golf course next door to the hotel if anyone shows up early and want to enjoy a round.

69 Post Sedan 01-12-2020 04:41 PM

Karen and I will be there this year......always a good time. Oh, and the food is good too. I’ll try to make a pass or two with the Chevelle.

Something new this year from our friend Freddie Byars. Joining the COPO Pete Shootout Trophy created by Shawn Huffman will be the new Muscle Car Shootout Trophy created and donated by Freddie.
As with the COPO Pete Trophy, the winner will have their name attached to the trophy and will retain ownership and bragging rights for one year. Then they must return the trophy to the following SCR and either try to defend their title or relinquish it to the new Shootout Winner.
Our sincere Thanks to Freddie for his creativity and generosity, as well as his continued support and friendship. You've all seen what Freddie is working on to improve the performance of his Camaro so I'm thinking he plans to take that trophy back home with HIS name attached as the First Muscle Car Shootout Champion.

Something NEW for SCR23.

Due to the unrivaled popularity of a certain Blue Corvair at SCR22, the SCR team, along with the invaluable help of our friend Andy Snetselaar, will be expanding the program for 2020. Beech Bend Raceway Park has agreed to incorporate an Autocross course for everyone's entertainment. (THANK YOU Andy!)

All the details aren't quite finalized but the wheels are definitely turning, and in the right direction.
This should be FUN !

Xplantdad 02-10-2020 10:15 PM

Okay...now Kasey is going to have to attend again! :beers:

Copo_Cartel 02-11-2020 11:54 AM

I see it now ....Kasey does double duty....down the 1320’ and around the track .

Copo_Cartel 02-11-2020 11:55 AM

We are also providing free admission to the Corvette Museum starting at 5 pm on Friday

TomN 02-11-2020 08:46 PM

The people at this given address and phone number don't know anything about the special SCR23 Code

They wanted a 3 digit code

I gave them the on site contact name and that didn't help either

*Holiday Inn University Plaza , Bowling Green KY (270-745-0088)*

Oh well .... I did get a room booked for $122.55 per night after it was all over ... lol

livettes 02-12-2020 01:20 PM

Sorry for the confusion. What are you bringing Tom?
Jamie

TomN 02-12-2020 06:26 PM

If I can get things together and get it all done .... I would like to try and bring the 1969 SS 396 Chevelle I bought recently. 396/375 Turbo-400. But right now a good lawn mover might our run it.

A12pilot 02-13-2020 03:05 PM

Oh man, that's awesome! Just printed out the registration and will send that your way Dougaroonie!

So, can the Crusty Cuda partake in this autocross or is it only for these so called Yenko Stinger people?:hmmm: Is a helmet required? NHRA 8-pt rollcage? Brembo 17" disks?

Man, this will be fun!

Cheers:beers:
Dave

Copo_Cartel 02-13-2020 05:48 PM

The rules are relaxed....helmet required....inspections are very very minimal. All cars/drivers have full access to both tracks ...autocross and 1320’. We suggest to follow NHRA rules for anything faster than 11.50. But everything is laid back

big gear head 02-13-2020 05:56 PM

Helmet is required for drag racing, even if you are slow. Don't know about the autocross.

69 Post Sedan 02-13-2020 06:22 PM

I just booked my room for Thursday and Friday nights. They didn’t know anything about the discount. They have it on record for when it is in effect, I will get the discount.

Either way......I’ll be there!!!!!

Kurt

big gear head 02-13-2020 10:26 PM

I hope you get to run this year. It was disappointing to see you having trouble last time you were there. I think it was your clutch that was causing problems?

Yes, after 9 years, it finally had enough! lol The one I have in there now has quite the “bite”, so I’ll have to take it a little easy off the line.

Copo_Cartel 02-13-2020 11:12 PM

The hotel will honor all discounts per our agreement...they are fixing the code from 5 digits as requested down to 3 digits. We will keep you posted.

Copo_Cartel 02-13-2020 11:14 PM

Kurt....I look forward to our beer/cheese parking lot visit !!!!! We had a great visit at the NEOCC show

A12pilot 02-14-2020 11:29 AM

Thanks Doug, but this "We suggest to follow NHRA rules for anything faster than 11.50. But everything is laid back" just to be clear, that's in strictly seconds and not minutes and seconds, right?:dunno:3gears.gif:rolleyes::p

All in fun....

Cheers:beers:
Dave

Copo_Cartel 02-14-2020 11:44 AM

That’s true Dave ...I need to clarify that . Most of my passes down the 1320’ starts out like this ...hold my beer and watch this.

I just received a text from Doug. The Holiday Inn has fixed the issue.

The Code you must use is the same as last year; SCR

big gear head 02-15-2020 03:47 PM

I've got the whole day to work on my car, but none of my parts have arrived, so it looks like the day will be wasted. I can't wait to get this thing back together and do some testing. Looking forward to July!!!

JBALL 02-17-2020 01:22 PM

Room is booked! Menu for the Thursday Night "Meat N Greet" will be out shortly.

UPDATE !

With all the dismal reports of postponements, reschedules and cancellations we see every day, we would like to offer a bit of hope for our Summer activities.

At this point, SCR 23 is STILL ON!

First: We're happy to announce that, with the help of our great friend and long-time supporter Mr. Chuck Hanson, we will welcome Mr. Bill Tichenor, VP of Marketing at HOLLEY, as our Guest Speaker at the Friday evening Banquet. Bill and Chuck have been friends for over 25 years and Bill has been with HOLLEY for at least that long. Based in Bowling Green, HOLLEY has been a sponsor of previous SCRs , a huge sponsor at most events at Beech Bend and Bill has a wealth of experience and knowledge in our hobby. This should prove to be an interesting and enjoyable evening.

Another positive note: we have extended the Early Registration Discount indefinitely! We understand everyone's uncertainty about their plans for the near future so the Early Registration Fee of $150 will be honored up to the date of the event. See the Registration Form posted here earlier.

You may have heard The National Corvette Museum is currently closed but they have a schedule for reopening and we receive regular updates from them as this progresses.

Obviously we're at the mercy of the State of Kentucky and our venues (the Holiday Inn University Plaza, Beech Bend Raceway Park and the National Corvette Museum), but as of today we have NOT received word from anyone indicating a possibility of cancellation.

We're ALL looking forward to that time when this is in our rear-view mirrors, but until then let's all keep positive thoughts and do what we can to stay healthy. We hope to see you all in Bowling Green in July. THANK YOU!

livettes 05-15-2020 12:52 PM

This event is always one of the highlights of my year. It will likely be the first car event most of us will be able to attend in 2020. I for one am looking forward to this reunion with friends more than ever!
