Wow, amazing find. Congrats.
|
I think that you and Annie were destined to get a car like this. I mean, after decades of restoring other folks special cars only to watch them leave, that ain't gonna happen with this one. Karmic payback IMO, for nearly half a century this one sat in the same spot waiting for you.
|
Can't say any more than others here. Well deserved.
Rich |
Awesome Rick...good for you and Annie and can't wait to see it finished.
|
Great find......congrats.....so how many yenko chevelles have been documented as found?
i think, 99 built?? |

Exactly!! |
Way to go Rick! Good things happen to good people!!

Congrats Rick and Annie on the terrific find. This looks like an amazing car.
So glad it ended up in your hands! |

I think Brian Henderson said about 1/3rd of the 69 Yenko Chevelles have been found as of about 3 or 4 years ago? I also know a gent in Pennsylvania that is certain he scrapped one for parts about 20 years ago. I'm sure a good number of them are history. Phil |
Great find for you guys.
I look forward to the rest of the story as work progresses. |
A little late to the party, but congratulations Rick on finding and saving such an important car - and knowing what an awesome job you'll do restoring it together makes this thread unmissable!
|
Definitely an amazing find! Can't wait to see the restoration pics!
Sal |
Very COOL!
Nice that you had people you can trust!!!! Enjoy the journey. Scott |
Congrats!!
|
Congratulations Rick and Annie! Great car ended up with great people! I can't wait to see it.
|
WOW!! In Mothballs for over 40 years and you got to dig it out, fantastic. Couldn't happen to a nicer couple. I'm sure the car will be a benchmark.
|
Hi Rick,
Congratulations to you and Annie...mums the word. Any plans of taking it to MCACN this year? |
Thanks Cal. I doubt it will be far enough along by that time to show it but will try. Just wish I could have shown it in the Barn Finds section last November but that was right between the time I went and saw the car the 1at time and then purchased it so I was too late.
|
Awesome find - congratulations! Have a blast with it!!

Some more interesting shots as far as originality goes. Not sure what the 215 signifies. Likely matches something on the buildsheet which we never found. Original date embossed mufflers and almost a month apart. Welded headpipe and slotted tailpipe. Original KQ rear. Original shocks. Rear package tray spray out detail. Original date stamped door panels. Original spring decals. Original vent tubes that appear to be missing the white plastic vent. Oh that should be fun to find and pay for!
|
Wow, she’s a peach!!
Ryan |
Very nice detail Rick. I've seen several 69's in boneyards out west with no plastic vent at the top of the vent tubes. FWIW.
Phil |
wow awesome. i wish you would reconsider and just buff out the paint, install a used interior and put do some Evaporust majic and keep the car original.
My biggest regret on the mustang ..redoing it..should have left it alone. |
Cannot be done. As soon as I get the time to start posting pictures on my restoration page you will understand. Believe me, if it could have been saved as an original it would be. There was nothing but the dash left in the interior that was not destroyed by feces and urine plus a dog lived in the car for some time.
|
Fantastic find Rick! Congrats to you both. I read your initial post and purposely didn't scroll down, hoping it'd be a red car....super!!
Very much looking forward to pics of the progress. FWIW, I've never seen a package tray taped that way for the interior color and body color transition. Cool stuff!! |

Alright what’s with the two rubber hoses coming of the gas tank. Are they just vents are they specific to a certain car or certain horsepower rating? This is how my black 69 chevelle is set up with one fuel line going to the motor! 375 hp ???
|
only 19 miles? Did they just leave the dealership and get into the accident?
|
19,000 miles.
|
Rick & Annie:
Congratulations on your great find! Henry & Sue |
Geez......one should never keep such a secret from the friend that you will need the MOST :)
Now I understand all the recent '69 questions and "I possibly may be needing this part"...Wink, Wink! Congrats on such a great find and car :) Dan |
Sorry Dan (and others). I learned my lesson the hard way so this time I had to keep my mouth shut. ;) ;)
|
Very wise move.
|
Congrats Rick & Annie. I read the good news on FB yesterday, but those new photos are great. Looking forward to a lot of resto photos over the coming months...
|
Wow!! That's a fantastic find for you guys! I look forward to seeing pictures of it's rebirth and seeing video of it running under it's own power. Congratulations and have fun getting it going!:headbang::3gears::beers: Oh wait, before anybody else asks... :Can-I-Have-It:
|
Great find. They are still out there
|
Just trying to keep the registry as accurate as possible folks - the only unknown V V Cooke 69 Yenko Chevelle that we have in red is 9B357868. I'm assuming that this is the car?
|
Yenko Chevelle...
Congrats to you both! Just proves...that nice things happen to nice people
Tom and Karen |
I planned on getting you the information for the registry and will do that shortly.
|
Congrats, awesome find. I look forward to the build.
