Wow, amazing find. Congrats.

Late BrakeU2 01-21-2018 03:18 AM

I think that you and Annie were destined to get a car like this. I mean, after decades of restoring other folks special cars only to watch them leave, that ain't gonna happen with this one. Karmic payback IMO, for nearly half a century this one sat in the same spot waiting for you.

69LM1 01-21-2018 03:29 AM

Can't say any more than others here. Well deserved.

Rich

L16pilot 01-21-2018 03:36 AM

Awesome Rick...good for you and Annie and can't wait to see it finished.

enio45 01-21-2018 03:57 AM

Eddie,

I think Brian Henderson said about 1/3rd of the 69 Yenko Chevelles have been found as of about 3 or 4 years ago? I also know a gent in Pennsylvania that is certain he scrapped one for parts about 20 years ago. I'm sure a good number of them are history.

Phil

Rixls6 01-21-2018 06:58 AM

Great find for you guys.
I look forward to the rest of the story as work progresses.

ZLP955 01-21-2018 09:20 AM

A little late to the party, but congratulations Rick on finding and saving such an important car - and knowing what an awesome job you'll do restoring it together makes this thread unmissable!

69VN 01-21-2018 10:55 AM

Definitely an amazing find! Can't wait to see the restoration pics!

ls6owner 01-21-2018 04:17 PM

Congratulations Rick and Annie! Great car ended up with great people! I can't wait to see it.

427freak 01-21-2018 04:29 PM

WOW!! In Mothballs for over 40 years and you got to dig it out, fantastic. Couldn't happen to a nicer couple. I'm sure the car will be a benchmark.

ZAPPER68 01-21-2018 05:13 PM

Hi Rick,
Congratulations to you and Annie...mums the word. Any plans of taking it to MCACN this year?

SS427 01-21-2018 05:17 PM

Thanks Cal. I doubt it will be far enough along by that time to show it but will try. Just wish I could have shown it in the Barn Finds section last November but that was right between the time I went and saw the car the 1at time and then purchased it so I was too late.

Tenney 01-21-2018 05:55 PM

Awesome find - congratulations! Have a blast with it!!

Some more interesting shots as far as originality goes. Not sure what the 215 signifies. Likely matches something on the buildsheet which we never found. Original date embossed mufflers and almost a month apart. Welded headpipe and slotted tailpipe. Original KQ rear. Original shocks. Rear package tray spray out detail. Original date stamped door panels. Original spring decals. Original vent tubes that appear to be missing the white plastic vent. Oh that should be fun to find and pay for!

Ryan1969Chevelle 01-21-2018 06:07 PM

Wow, she’s a peach!!

Ryan

Woj 01-21-2018 08:25 PM

Very nice detail Rick. I've seen several 69's in boneyards out west with no plastic vent at the top of the vent tubes. FWIW.

wow awesome. i wish you would reconsider and just buff out the paint, install a used interior and put do some Evaporust majic and keep the car original.

My biggest regret on the mustang ..redoing it..should have left it alone.

SS427 01-21-2018 08:55 PM

Cannot be done. As soon as I get the time to start posting pictures on my restoration page you will understand. Believe me, if it could have been saved as an original it would be. There was nothing but the dash left in the interior that was not destroyed by feces and urine plus a dog lived in the car for some time.

cheveslakr 01-21-2018 09:36 PM

Fantastic find Rick! Congrats to you both. I read your initial post and purposely didn't scroll down, hoping it'd be a red car....super!!
Very much looking forward to pics of the progress.
FWIW, I've never seen a package tray taped that way for the interior color and body color transition.
Cool stuff!!

Hey, you got somethin' 'gainst dogs living in your car? What are you Un-American???

chevyman0429 01-21-2018 10:48 PM

Alright what’s with the two rubber hoses coming of the gas tank. Are they just vents are they specific to a certain car or certain horsepower rating? This is how my black 69 chevelle is set up with one fuel line going to the motor! 375 hp ???

luzl78 01-21-2018 10:59 PM

only 19 miles? Did they just leave the dealership and get into the accident?

SS427 01-21-2018 11:54 PM

19,000 miles.

Henry D 01-22-2018 12:56 AM

Rick & Annie:
Congratulations on your great find!

Postsedan 01-22-2018 02:59 AM

Geez......one should never keep such a secret from the friend that you will need the MOST :)
Now I understand all the recent '69 questions and "I possibly may be needing this part"...Wink, Wink!

Congrats on such a great find and car :)

Dan

SS427 01-22-2018 03:27 AM

Sorry Dan (and others). I learned my lesson the hard way so this time I had to keep my mouth shut. ;) ;)

cheveslakr 01-22-2018 03:37 AM

Very wise move.

Bill Rose 01-22-2018 04:05 AM

mr 707 01-22-2018 11:00 AM

Great find. They are still out there

bergy 01-22-2018 12:34 PM

Just trying to keep the registry as accurate as possible folks - the only unknown V V Cooke 69 Yenko Chevelle that we have in red is 9B357868. I'm assuming that this is the car?

WILMASBOYL78 01-22-2018 01:27 PM

Yenko Chevelle...

Congrats to you both! Just proves...that nice things happen to nice people

Tom and Karen

SS427 01-22-2018 01:28 PM

I planned on getting you the information for the registry and will do that shortly.

Caseys69 01-22-2018 01:48 PM

Congrats, awesome find. I look forward to the build.
