I remember back in '83-84 or so, a neighbor had those Firestone Super Sports on a '68 Chevelle. Haven't seem those tires in YEARS!

I picked these up this week, they were on a 66 Vette drag car. Anyone know anything about these wheels? Attached is a pic of the tires and wheels on the Vette. The car is currently getting ready to be street driven, the now owner installed a SB tunnel ram, got the hood scoop painted to match by a local shop near me, they did an amazing job blending and matching that green metal flake and endless stripes paint scheme. This car will be for sale soon. I will resize the pics of the car and attach.

I do not like his choice of new tires and wheels, he bought everything from Summit.

The Boss 02-11-2018 02:09 PM

Kool paint!

scuncio 02-11-2018 03:39 PM

I agree, way better with the steel slots.

69L78 02-11-2018 10:01 PM

He is going to put license on it and drive it on the street so this is what he likes. It will be on the road before spring.

An ebay find...

These look like Parnelli Jones wheels with some ancient cheaters...price is right!

markinnaples 02-14-2018 02:35 PM

Eh, I like the Keystones way better as those steel slots just never did it for me.

Thanks.....when I was a kid growing up.....all the cool/fast cars had Cragars S/S with wide tires in the back and skinny/narrow tires up front. :headbang: :3gears:

Ok what are your tire sizes?

NorCam 02-28-2018 01:29 AM

Not to side track the thread, but any chance you have a pic of the tow tabs so I can see where they fit into the frame. I'd also like to know who's they are?

Thanks in advance...

No camera trick... that's the rough paint. There's pockmarks in the old lacquer paint, giving it a metallic look from a distance.

Fronts are 15x4" rims on vintage Cooper E78-15, and rears are 15x8" rims on 28x10.5-15 Mickey Thompson's.

They are NMW tabs. I don't have a good picture, but they are held on with 3 bolts. 2 bolts to the bottom of the bumper and one bolt goes to the bumper brackets.

chevyandpontiac 02-28-2018 04:57 PM

It looks FANTASTIC. great picture.

That's what I was hoping to hear...or rather, not hear. I was thinking of adding a set to my green car but with a rubber bumper that's definitely out of the question. Thanks

PxTx 02-28-2018 08:07 PM

You'll have to improvise like how Joel did on the Mexican RG Camaro tabs.

Found this pair of Cragar G/T mags along with a pair of S/S mags. The S/S are apparently 14x8” and the G/T are supposed to be 14x9”. I wish they weren’t unilug, and I’m hoping they’ll clean up enough to look good (not too good) for my similarly weathered Monaco Orange SS.

How common are the G/T’s?

Here's another pair of cool wheels that came on a 1969 Firebird I recently purchased. Cooper Pro 60 L-60 14's on Cragar S/S wheels.
