Magnesium American mags in the wooden crate they got shipped in to Heinrich Chevrolet. These were for use on Gary Morgan's road race Camaro and are still owned by Gary Morgan.

Wow very nice! Talk about museum quality! Those need to be displayed just like they are.

mssl72 11-28-2021 08:13 PM

Cool to see that!

Paul_S 12-06-2021 02:29 AM

Wow! ...and shipped from Chevrolet, not from American Racing. Looks like he has a full set there.

I just acquired a 1970 Shadow Gray, M21, 4.10, L78 Camaro that sold new at Heinrich Chevyland. Born with block/trans/rear, but major project. Have just begun the process of trying to track down previous owners.

Mr70 06-21-2022 05:38 PM

Thanks guys...and mine was one of two 70 L78 Camaros acquired that day from the same barn. The second is a Van Nuys, (with build sheet), Cortez Silver RS/SS L78 that was sold new in the Chicagoland area. My buddy Ron got this car and he's been working on this deal for 2 years...it all finally came together last weekend.

Mr70 06-21-2022 07:03 PM

Wow!...what Chicagoland dealership was Rons L-78 sold from?

L16pilot 06-21-2022 07:34 PM

my error...not Chicagoland. His car sold originally from AC Hooker & Son in Sidell, IL. From the research he's done so far, AC Hooker was a car dealership and also sold Allis-Chalmers farm equipment! I told him about this thread and I'm sure he'll chime in soon with more details.

ronzz572 06-21-2022 07:37 PM

Yes correct, My car was sold from A C Hooker & Son Sidell Illinois. Anyone that has information about it. I would love to hear from you.

Mr70 06-21-2022 07:55 PM

Huge congrats to both of you, only 600 1970 L-78 Camaros assembled, and you guys find two of them at once.:burnout:

scuncio 06-21-2022 09:49 PM

Great Find. Can't beat code 17 Shadow Grey and an L78 Wow!! We have a 1962 fuel injection Corvette that sold new at Heinrich Chevrolet. Here is a picture from Heinrich Chevy 1970 of the staff and a new 1970 Impala Convertible. I am sure one of those guys pictured was the salesman of your 70 L78.

Mr70 06-29-2022 05:28 PM

WoW!..Very cool.
I'm thinking this was taken sometime after September 10th,1970 as there is a Vega Poster board in back right, and that's when it Debuted...Plus 1969 Chevrolet Sports Dept. lighted Signs and Banners on the back wall too.

L16pilot 06-29-2022 08:56 PM

That's a great photo and good eye about the Vega poster! Now all I need is one of those flux capacitors and a Mr. Fusion machine.......

mssl72 07-06-2022 08:29 PM

Cool finds for you and Ron! Another Heinrich Camaro comes into light! Keep us posted on the reassembly/restoration.

Here are the Heinrich Chevrolet Rochester NY emblems that I collected over the years arranged from oldest to newest design. I kept the top emblem because that is correct for my application and sold the others off.

Are you able to provide dates when each emblem was used? I'd like to seek out the correct emblem for my 70 L78 Camaro. Thanks in advance!

This would be correct for your 1970 Camaro. This style was used from approx 1967 into a least mid 1970s. If you see this same emblem pictured below with mounting holes that was exclusively used on heavy duty trucks (no idea why I guess they figured two way tape for cars screws for trucks???)

Mr70 08-31-2022 02:30 PM

Starting from the top,is your #3 emblem a duplicate of #2?

Yes, #2 and #3 emblems are identical. There are 4 different styles over the years (that I have seen) 5 if you consider the heavy duty truck style with the mount holes.

Picked this patch up, thanks to my brother.

The one at the very bottom of photo showing the 5 emblems is identical to the one on the decklid of my 69 malibu 16k mile survivor so that should indicate what was correct at the time
