Thank You Jason......I will have to try that soon !!!

So if people can post directly from their computer files directly, why all the
continued concern about 3rd party hosting sites ???

Because of all the historic threads that can't be edited to reload replacement photos. If someone could figure out a way to allow editing those, it would solve the problem. My old Firebird threads here are all useless now.

All appears like one of the few good features of the new system is you can go back & edit historic threads not editable w/ the old system?:hmmm:
Pick a really old one and try it!

Steve,

Would reposting the photos to your old threads take a very long time? You are talking about 100s of posts.

Thousands actually...

It would almost be worth paying Photobucket a one time fee to reinstate those third party photos, EXCEPT their fee is a yearly subscription to keep those photos reinstated! Typical bait and switch technique.

I wouldn't pay Photobucket a dime!

Saw this Photobucket Victims Wanted note below when I logged onto my Fotki photo host site today.
The last line just above the free trial button reads like they may be able to transfer someone's whole Bucket into a new Fotki account at once?
Sounds too good to be true but you guys w/ multi pics you don't want to lose but too many to go through and individually load to a new host should perhaps look into this...before the 2'nd shoe drops and you lose access your Photo#ucket accounts?:hmmm:
Fotki's awesome and I've been running w/ them for almost 10 years, I think the plan I have is one better than basic to get the gigs up and costs something like $50 a year?
:beers:

That would be interesting to know if someone has success doing this ?
I personally quit using Photo%$it :bs: long ago, to many adds to load. I have been making TN's @ easy thumbnails when I have a bunch to post, or paint when it is 1 or 2 here and there. Paint is easy but make a copy first B4 you resize and save.

As the author states: " The chances are that the company will back down over the next few days,...". We'll see.

Only slightly different than the EpiPen controversy - Corporation decides they have a hostage audience and can charge whatever they want for their product. Difference here is the customers have decided they can live without Photobucket and are leaving by the thousands, regardless of the carnage it has caused on boards like this.

Greed has destroyed many a company -- Photobucket is probably next ... TAZ

Seems Photobucket is finally responding with a "limited time offer" (7 days) that includes 3rd Party hosting and a storage allowance for $99/annually. I think this concession offer is expensive (under $50 annually would be a more reasonable price point) however its far less than the $399/ annually they have been demanding until now. Here is a copy of the offer:

We would like to offer a tailored plan for users just like you - our Premium plan for $99.99 / year.

The Premium plan will provide 3rd party hosting for non-commercial use on your forums, blogs, and personal websites*. Additionally, you will be able to store up to 300,000 photos.

We are working on some exciting changes for 2018. This is our exclusive introductory price and this offer will expire in 7 days.

too much still...theres ways to create a profit stream without hostage tactics...

They are getting closer, but $99/year.... still too much. I wonder how many people jumped on the $399/year deal. Maybe if you own a business, but even then, I still think they were overpriced when other hosting sites are still free.

I can't believe you guys are considering paying them a dime after what they did.

6pakdave 01-26-2018 01:43 PM

Found this online, havnt tried it as yet....

Seems there is a workaround for Photobucket's third party hosting ban.

If you edit your old posts and add ~original to the end of the image file name it should display property. So if you image tag looks something like this

my_image_file_name.jpg[/IMG]

change it to

my_image_file_name.jpg~original[/IMG]

I have no idea how long this will continue to work.
