How do you set it so when you open a topic it continues with where you left off with new posts and not from the beginning of it.

John 03-13-2017 04:04 PM

..... I have been trying to figure out that too !

..... when I click on a post that I have read several pages of already ...it still takes me to the beginning of the post each time . .... ??????????

..... WHY ???????????

...

Ryan1969Chevelle 03-13-2017 05:09 PM

I get a 404 alarm lots of times trying to look on my phone....

Is this just me?

Ryan

Donnie 03-13-2017 06:58 PM

why are all the post showing as NEW when nothing new has been posted in them?

only way I can tell whats new is by looking at the date and time.

Xplantdad 03-13-2017 08:16 PM

Donnie, John and Larry...Jody is working on this. Patience grasshoppers :)

for some reason after they are opened they still show as NEW thats why there is no color change between old and new.

I have threads going back 9 days that are still showing as new and no one has posted anything in them

NorCam 03-14-2017 05:14 PM

I gotta say...I absolutely love the new site and applaud the changes.
  • It's way faster!
  • It's way brighter!
  • It's easier to read!
  • It's hosts pictures better!
  • It's easier to navigate!
  • It has all the newer features!
  • It's full of great car people!
  • There isn't a better Car Forum out there!

Needless to say it has some great support too. People who are working to tweak it so that anyone can adapt to the changes and navigate using a more powerful forum software. Change is good people and as this forum grows, it requires a more powerful platform.

Yes there are differences with PM's and such, but it isn't really a big deal at all. In fact, I always purge my messages and don't keep anything that isn't absolutely needed. If it's something I need, I save it on my own computer or email. I know some people don't like change, but I welcome it and appreciate the investment made for the new forum.

Great jobs to those involved! :youguysrock:

It should be fixed. Can you mark all forms read when you're done reading? It won't retroactively fix things but from now on it should show only new unread posts.

scuncio 03-14-2017 06:38 PM

I'm not a huge fan of the new format either, but I completely understand the need to standardize with a supported SW package. I applaud you guys for taking all the constructive criticism into account.

If I knew how to post screet shots, I would. My way is kind of clunky, but it works.

BEFORE you reply to a thread, scroll all the way down to the bottom of a page. On the left side, there is a menu entitled "Posting Rules". After the "You May...." section, there is a section with highlighted links. The second or third one down is "Smilies". I say second or third because, sometimes, it is the second or third item listed in that box. Anyway, if you click Smilies, another tab opens up showing all of the smilies. On the left side, under "what to type", copy the entire script, such as " : flag : ", then go back to your original tab, click reply, and add that script to your reply where ever you want it.

As of now, no Smilies Box opens for me no matter what I click to reply to a thread.

Like I said, my way is clunky, but works.

None of that ^^^^^^^^^ appears in any of my reply screens. zero, nada, nothing, zip, zippo. Maybe it is possible I'm not the only one not seeing the smilie box.

yes I was able to mark all forms read.

so this is the way I have to get them to show as old now? it wont just do it when I back out of a thread.

It should work automatically, just wanted to get you to a known good starting point. Now that you've marked them all it should work.

John 03-16-2017 12:05 PM

do these work?

....Let's see if I get these to work...

:BruceRocks::worship:

GaryW 03-16-2017 01:59 PM

I like the new format and changes much better than the old... Now I can come in, click on 'new posts' and see any new post since I was in last... works like most of the other forums I frequent.. :)

John 03-17-2017 05:34 AM

..How do I get it to take me to the post that I have already been reading ... and takes me to the section or page that I last read so I can read the new comments without going back to the FIRST page :dunno:

lbnaz 03-18-2017 12:01 AM

How do you respond to PM's and send new ones. I have received several PM's about parts and have tried responding on the reply area. It never shows up as part of the correspondence on the PM. I have sent several testing PM's to members with no reply also. Thanks, Larry

Go to user cp, then scroll down and click "edit options". There is a section on pm's, make sure pm's are enabled and make sure to check the box to save sent pm's in a sent folder, otherwise you will not see them.

lbnaz 03-18-2017 01:36 AM

I have a check in " safe a copy of sent messages in my sent items folder by default" is that the one?

Yes, sounds correct. So when you click "reply" to answer a pm, what happens?

You are hitting submit message after typing a reply?

John 03-18-2017 08:03 PM

.... I still get a different look to the website every time I turn on my computer... and still have not been able to go to a previously read thread and have it take me to the place I left off. Is there something I am not doing right ?:dunno:

You won't be getting a new look anymore, only the default theme is available now. I was hoping to have the fix for sending you to the new posts instead of the beginning done already, but it's close.

John 03-18-2017 10:03 PM

.... Thanks, You are doing a great job ....

...What about the sponsors advertisements :dunno:

John 03-22-2017 12:16 PM

Jody,

..... Looks like you have been hard at it working on this new format

...Looks good :beers:
