----Have reversed the decision to sell the 67 W30 so soon. The guys at Mecum were very understanding. It drives like a brand new W30, no rattles, no squeaks, nuthin! Part of the decision is the 50th anniversary at MCACN this year. Wanted to participate one more time in Bobs extravaganza! Cant wait for next November!!! It will also give me more time to dig up more history, hopefully back to day one.
----The maroon 67 race car is Sam Murray's. He helped with the build on my Olds pill. Sam knew the Woodland and Andreesen team well and I believe he crewed for them back in the day. Sam knows Olds horsepower well!.......Bill S |
Whew!!
Good idea:-) It will be a hot seller after MCACN if you still want to sell:-( Ryan |
----Thanks, Ryan! I'm starting to look at the car a bit differently. It hung around here for so long with other more important stuff (to me anyway) to get finished that I lost interest. Think I have regained what I lost. Kind of like it,,,, a lot!........Bill S

Are you coming to the Olds homecoming in June?
|
Looking forward to seeing it at MCACN Bill. I'm sure it will be stunning like all of the others you have done.

Does this mean you will not be at Mecum Indy to buy the first round?

Very happy to hear the good news!!!
I thought the 67 w30 used D code heads..... |
----Dan,,,Ill still be there selling this 67 El Camino. I need storage room! Ill PM you my cell #.
----Daverd,,, Most assuredly not. The heads used on all 67 W30s were C heads with a slight twist as they all had smog holes. The non-smog equipped W30s simply had plugs in the smog Holes. For those of us not familiar with Oldsmobile stuff, the smog pipes were plumbed into the heads, not the exhaust manifolds.......Bill S |
Yes I know the olds heads are plumbed for
The a.i.r. Piping That's news to me on the 67 w cars I had thought The D heads were used on them too!! Beautiful restoration I'm very happy to see You are keeping this one...funny I wonder Where your 70 is now...( the one I worked on many years ago..)) |
----Took that 70 W30 in trade from a guy named Fran Balanda from Wellesley. Ever run into him?......Bill S
|
I haven't seen Fran in years Bill...
Or you're 70 w car either... |
----I had my 67 W30 at the 50th anniversary at MCACN and really enjoyed it. With that said I wasn't happy with a few things on the car. 1st, I had to have the trunk lid repainted due my own stupidity and chose the wrong shop to repaint it. They had way to much flake in the paint but it was too late to redo it. As well, there was a certain amount of shrinkage in different spots that I also was irritated with. This past summer I found a new shop, "Paddock's Paint Works", that is, simply put, the best I have ever used. He matched the trunk to the rest of the car perfectly and then worked the rest of the paint out to 5000 paper and buffed and polished it. To say I'm happy is an understatement. I really feel like I have a new 442. Just wanted to give this great shop big props!!!...….Bill S

Bill, good to hear these shops are still out there. Gotta make you feel good about your 442!!!!
|
An updated photo would be nice...….!

I’m confused... you were able to make that car more shiny?
It Must be a bathroom mirror now. Can’t wait to see it!!! Ryan W31 |

To top off this stellar W30 Sports Coupe Bill has taken it a little Day-2.
I especially love those front rims!! Looks amazing!!! Ryan W31 |
----Thanks for posting the pics, Ryan! I have had a feeling that as much as I like my W30, it looked a bit boring. I did the wheel treatment as if I had bought the car new and literally changed out the wheels and tires as quick as I could. Back in 67 a lot of guys had different wheels front and back. I felt this look reminds me of going to Dragway 42 and making a couple of passes. Then going home and putting the americans back on the rear....Bill S

Nice wheels! (figuratively & literally ...)
|
----I'm looking at my pics and those 235/16 Pro-Tracs sort of look small, but standing here in my garage they fill the wheel wells out really well! They were recommended for 7 inch rims, and so far I really love the look. Brings me back to the late 60's big time!.....Bill S

Damn cool Olds with super rare options! I’m more into the mid 60’s, so anything that takes me back there is priceless. Chris (60sStuff) |
