Re: 1967 L78
Interesting thing is the orig. owner lived in Milford Michigan. That is where the GM proving grounds is.

Is anything known of Anthony B's war service record, note the Jan '68 ad below from Lansing MI which is 50 odd miles from Milford? If seeking more history, Ancestry.com lists an Anthony B. who passed away in Oakland MI in '78 also there's a phone # online for a 78 year Joan in Milford. I have a bunch more 67/68/69 L78 Convert' ads saved...better posted here or over in the Old Newspaper Ads thread? An M-21 (close ratio) and 2.73s? So a dog off the line but a runner at the top end? |
Re: 1967 L78
Anybody know if this car is an original L78 or just a nice clone? It was at Mecum Indy in 2009. Unfortunately I didn't write down the VIN or take a picture of the trim tag.

Re: 1967 L78
another member had told me that Grumpy had the first early March 4k car, I have the engine for an April car T0413MQ VIN212578 from Community Chevrolet, Berwyn, IL, production date 04/27/1967

Re: 1967 L78
Van Camp Chevrolet sold a lot of muscle in this area. That gold 4K convertible must have been out of the area for years - I would have remembered seeing it around.

Re: 1967 L78
I did include George's car in this list, Just didn't know George's name. It is at the top , along with Phil S car because of Royal Plum as one of the rarest colors.

Re: 1967 L78
Had a Marina Blue Blue Deluxe int 67 RS SS L78 Convert a few years back . Born with engine , replacement trans original 4:10 rear . Had headers on it and was a good driver condition car with an older restoration ..
|
Re: 1967 L78
I remember seeing a Royal Plum L78 SS/RS at the Fred Gibb car show around 2003. The owner's name was Mike. I think he lived in the LaHarpe area. Has anybody else seen this car?
|
Re: 1967 L78
A guy from Michigan named Richard had a Plum Crazy vert with white top. He used to be with Jim Stubbins at some Camaro shows in the late 90's and 2000. Can't remember his last name .

That leaves approx 900 coupes that were built, any guess how many coupes are known to exist today. </div></div>
I spoke to Kurt tonight. He meant 20% of the L78's he has in his database, not GM production records. |
Re: 1967 L78
Yup, the 20% number was generated via our database. There's all kinds of biases built into the data. But it's a good guestimate.
btw, 50 in a registry seems plausible. There are 35 in our db. |
Re: 1967 L78
Phil (rare4K) has a total of 151 67 L78 cars in his datatbase in various stages of restoration, of that total 29 cars are convertibles. Phils registry is the only resource I have been able to confirm, other than CRG. With a possible 50 cars still existing, I am suprised that more cars have not surfaced.

Re: 1967 L78
Wow, those 4K cars must really be a rare Camaro. Wonder if any of them have born with engines?

Re: 1967 L78
Actually, the triple blue L78 is owned by George Oleskiewicz. Congrats go out to him for being the cover feature on the February 2017 issue of Hemmimngs Muscle Machines. That car is stunning. This year he brought a 1967 RS/SS 396/325 convertible to MCACN. Butternut yellow with a deluxe yellow interior. That car was beautiful also... he does really nice work.
|
Re: 1967 L78
I apologize the Butternut SS car was not RS equipped.

That one's nice too. Similar to George's, but built 2 months later and a white top.

Re: 1967 L78
I purchased that car in 2010 . Real deal and a great driver to boot ... KP

Re: 1967 L78
Kenny, that was a great deal on that convertible
