Re: Sleeper Chassis Project
Wondering why you spent a week of evenings wire wheeling the subframe and then sent it off and had it blasted.

Re: Sleeper Chassis Project
Wayne, don't do an LS swap. We have made quite a bit of power with the OEM dual plane intake, well over 700 and even hitting 800 with the dual plane OEM BBc intake.
https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/ubbt...bbc#Post645188 Or get ahold of Mark Jones for one of his pump gas BBc. He too has been high 700Hp range. Also, as for the rear suspension? Few bits: Why the rear shackles? With my set=-up in the Nova, they all recommended "roller-bearing slider" over the shackle? But mine a Smiths Racecaft set up. And I would VERY STRONGLY recommend you move the bolt out of the top hole on the front. Nova's tend to want to flip over if you hit it with any real power and hook that car. I've been warned about NOT having wheelie bars and the lower hole with mine? Many say I might trash the front end since these cars hit pretty hard. Are you, or have you put a bar in the car? Because even the LSX 454 will put this car well into the 9's? You will need a 10 point, 8.50 cage in that to be "legal". John |

Re: Sleeper Chassis Project
Wayne, I know what you mean. I know my '69 isn't as much as a sleeper as yours, with the Yenko stripes, 10 point cage, and 6+" cowl hood right now (that will be changed). I did build a set of 15X3.5 rallys for it and keeping the rally idea and flat caps.
I too didn't want to drill any extra holes in the car. So for all my switches, I actually put them IN the ash tray. I have 2 fuel pumps, Nitrous ARM, elect, fan and water pump. I even had my gauges fold up UNDER the dash (water temp, oil press, oil temp all elect). Now it will take some time getting the real sleep look back to the car. But I doubt that 850+Hp and collector mufflers will be very mellow once the car is started. Unlike what your trying to do, I want to see if a pretty much ALL GM equip car ad run in the 8's and still look "stock-ish"? I know we could get there with a single plane intake, but the dual is the challenge. Like I said in another post, we spent HOURS getting 3 more CFM out of the intake. Lets just say my "074" will out flow BB2+'s on the same bench. Good luck |
Re: Sleeper Chassis Project
Man, I love this build! Out of curiosity, what books have you written? Are they still available?

Re: Sleeper Chassis Project
I like that design, very clean and super strong! I'm thinking of the brake assy's, does running the bolts for the backing plates / bearing retainers into the brake area create any interference? I know the factory runs them the other direction, although it looks cleaner your way.

Seen Tim's car a couple times as I'm here in Maryland and follow a couple "Stocker Buddies". I'm truly impressed with your ideas and how you implement them. Yes, the Stockers are in NO WAY stock!!! Can't wait to see more on the Novs build!

Re: Sleeper Chassis Project
I have a question about your floor mats, what brand are they and are they very pliable? I bought a set of black repro and they are hard as a rock and have already split and looking for a good set that are rubbery. Great looking car BTW!!

Re: Sleeper Chassis Project
----I actually bought a set of these for my 94 Caprice wagon. I just couldn't find a good looking set that I liked as much. I have used them pretty hard as the car is my winter beater (sometimes summer) and they haven't got brittle or changed color or even become worn. Quality product!......Bill S
