JpMotorsports and Mr70....I have tried getting in touch with the builder but he has not replied. Maybe someday he will. How cool would that be to have the model sitting in my car at the shows? |
Re: 1970 Challenger R/T
Once you get that model, pick up this Lic.plate he used on it,to match yours.

Not to drag this off topic....but, did Mother Mopar offer some period plates similar to the USA-1 plates we all collect? My mind ain't working right now....

Re: 1970 Challenger R/T
Hi Ron...the attention to detail is well over the top. Dave owned the car for many years before doing any work on it. During those years he did much research on it....reading as much as he could and with phone calls to other Challenger gurus. He also took that time to carefully accumulate as many NOS parts as he could. The trunk weather stripping cost him $1200 alone. He did one hell of a job on her. Attention to detail was second to none. Scott is a plethora of information and goes above and beyond to help others. He found a buyer and got me out of a bad situation with a 70 Challenger R/T SE that I bought a few months earlier. I can't say enough about either one of those two.

Re: 1970 Challenger R/T
I had a 70 Shaker Challenger RT/SE Six Pack. Sold it to a friend - He still owns it.....I want it back - lol!
A shaker on any 70 Challenger is rare.......they didn't start shipping until May of 70 because of problems with the Challenger hood. Mine was a 4.10 4-speed Six-Pack.....with the white roof and bumble bee stripe. The pic with 2 of them is mine and my buddies 440-6 Auto - original paint car. Both were FJ5 Sublime. There were only so many 70 RT/SE's with shakers.....can't remember the actual number right now but total 70 Challenger Shaker production was around 184 cars........need to find my info on RT/SE with N96 option. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...8-dsc03491.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...-l_rear2_b.jpg |

Re: 1970 Challenger R/T
I would bet the builder of the model would be very pleased to put it in the hands of the owner of the car. However, it may cost you. When I was building models MANY years ago people always wanted a replica of their car built. It was not hard to put 75-100 hours in a model with a ton of detail and that could get expensive. It would be really cool to have it however.

Hi SS427....I'm sure he would be very pleased and even flattered of my interest in buying his model. I know it will cost me but at the same time....how cool would it be to have a model of your exact car? |
Re: 1970 Challenger R/T
caj, I believe there's a 1:18 diecast of your car. In fact, my friend helps the manufacturer with color schemes and options, so he was responsible for it. I've emailed him to ask him so that you can find the actual diecast and not just something a hobbyist created. I'll post again when I find out more.
EDIT: I may be mixing it up with this: http://www.diecastdepot.ca/index.php?PID=12130 But still waiting for my friend's response on the Challenger. |
Re: 1970 Challenger R/T
that U code looks great! there is a green survivor around here in Chicago (6 pak auto), looks like one of the 2 green ones in that pic.
I knew they were rare, did not know how rare until now. |

I knew they were rare, did not know how rare until now. </div></div> Thanks black69. Yes...the 70s are somewhat rare. Those green R/T's look great. Hey...I'm from Chicago too....born and raised. Left there when I retired in 2001. Growing up I lived at Jefferson Park and went to Steinmetz HS. Went into the Air Force and stationed in Thailand during Vietnam. Got out and lived in Schiller Park right on River Rd....right down the road from MCACN. Then we moved to the western suburbs....Streamwood and Bartlett. We'll be in and enjoying the pizza and beef sandwiches in 2 days. Really miss the Chicago food. |
Re: 1970 Challenger R/T
CAJ, my friend just responded that the company with whom he consults doesn't have the rights to the Challenger mold, so the Charger is the only one in that combo - sorry!

Hi 442w30.....I really want to thank you for checking with him. I'm still hoping that one day I'll hear from the builder of that model. Hopefully he'll be willing to part with it or possibly make another one for me. |

Great Challenger. Chrysler nailed "the look" when they made the Challenger and Cuda in 1970; they are beautiful cars.

Happy New Year everyone. I hope everyone out there had a nice holiday. Last year ended GREAT and this Year started off GREAT!!! The end of last year was a total turn around from earlier in the year when things started out bad after I purchased a 70 yellow Challenger R/T SE from a less than honest seller. Everything looked much better when I purchased a 70 cream Challenger R/T from a GREAT guy....Dave West that I met through Scott Smith from Harms Auto. There are a lot of dishonest people out there and it would be nice if they could all take a lesson from Dave West. I just wanted to show everyone on the board here what a class act Dave is. My wife and I were in Vegas over New Years and when we got back a package was waiting for us. Inside was a belated Christmas gift for my wife and I from Dave. This model was painted with the same paint that was used to paint the Challenger. It will look absolutely great sitting inside the car at the car shows. What a nice thing to do!!! Thanks Dave!!!....and thanks again Scott for introducing us.

Looking to by caj's old car
6 Attachment(s)
Hey caj,
I'm new here and I have an odd question. I'm looking at buying a vehicle but I want to make sure I'm not getting scammed. Attached are images of the car I'm looking to purchase. After a lot of searching on the background of the car, I think this may have belonged to you at one point. Can you confirm if this was your vehicle? The individual I'm trying to buy the car from is named Robert Hillman. He's an American living in the UK and he's trying to ship the car home here to the states. If this was your car, do you recall if this was the individual who bought it? Does his story check out? Thanks so much! |
Wow! What a beauty. I had an EK2 Challenger T/A. That is the best color on these cars IMO.
|
I remember seeing this car in Building T at Carlisle. She's a beauty.
