I used Plycar carriers for the first time and just had the car picked up by Plycar carriers and it arrived within a week at 40% less than the other carriers.

Re: Unrestored Car/ Survivor- Wanted
Steve,
I find a few of those photos particularly interesting because of my research into 61-64 passenger cars. Some plants installed the lower trunk latch before the trunk spatter paint and some after, in which case it's just a bare plated piece along with the bolts. Also some plants installed the cardboard insulation panel behind the rear seat before trunk spatter was shot and some after. I only have 15 different plants to research so it's an easy job......... |
Re: Unrestored Car/ Survivor- Wanted
That car is a definite benchmark survivor.. Very impressive.

Thanks Darrell. I hope to photograph the car in the same manner as you've done. It won't be necessary for me to disassemble, at least that is my plan.... |
Re: Unrestored Car/ Survivor- Wanted
Very nice Steve...
By chance did you mean Plycon? I just used them twice within the last month. Excellent service. Value was unmatched by all other majors players. Dan |
Re: Unrestored Car/ Survivor- Wanted
Plycon is the corporation, but the car transportation division is Plycar. Here's the website:

Re: Unrestored Car/ Survivor- Wanted
I cant see the car needing much preservation.. Not much can happen to a car that is garaged with only 5400 miles.. The green car has almost 69K.

~ Pete

Unfortunately both father and son have passed and his wife had no further documentation then what I had posted. She is in her upper 80's and rather not push her. She did tell me her husband never owned or cared about performance cars. |
Re: Unrestored Car/ Survivor- Wanted
I saw the car at Mike B's before it was transported. The Malibu is an excellent example of an unmolested original car (regardless of the make or model). I know the old addage of "they're only original once", and it is true, and this car is a perfect example of how these cars were built; not just the assembly, but paint, interior, weatherstrip, moldings, etc.

Re: Unrestored Car/ Survivor- Wanted
Could be a total long shot but I thought this was just too cool not to post. I really hope it your car Steve...

I took a few more pics today. Also the information provided from the original owners son's, widow matches up with the last inspection sticker on 10/23/87 with a mileage 5,350. The car has been driven 145 in last 29 years. Also it looks like the lighter was never used.

----What a car, Steve! Just a bit curious about several of the fuses not having a color stripe. Do you think they were changed out for some strange reason?......Bill S

I believe the 20A are clear so they are ok, however the 25A should have a white stripe. These cars hold many mysteries and anomalies |

Absolutely amazing Steve. Nice car, great pix. A definite keeper.

Saw the car in the link below, and immediately thought of Steve's '68:

----WOW! Gorgeous color combo, and very, very nice. The engine appears to be fluffed to me. What do others think?.......Bill S

----Just what I was thinking, Steve. If it had remained untouched under the hood as far as "detailing" goes I think I would have made an attempt to buy it. Would like to have had a car for the 50th in 2018 at MCACN!!!.......Bill S

I thought the 68 I had with 52K was something. This one puts it to shame. Has the look thats for sure.

I was looking over my '69 vert yesterday and noticed this same marking....but I restored this car in '97! How could that be?? Then I looked at the hood and noticed the hood bumper and the DUH moment hit me.....that's where the bumper lands on the cowl. |
Steve, love your Chevelle! Is there any interesting paint marks on the frame in front of the rear wheels?
Dustin |
very nice Steve always love these survivors foster v
|
Steve, great car and was told you were the lucky one. Hope to see at some point and wondering if you will bring it to MCACN at some point?
