Thanks, unless someone wants to save it, looks like we'll have to part it out.

So, I'll start with Body tub/ non roller and all bolt on sheet metal, good title and all supporting documentation $15,000.00 obo.

Also available is a rebuilt with dyno sheet, complete matching drivetrain for $15,000.00

Anyone who buys both gets a bunch of correct and hard to find misc parts at no additional cost.

A new twist on marketing a classic...very creative

***This car is very solid and the engine and tranny do everything they should. I spent a lot of time on the mechanicals...it runs out great. The sleeper look is the best part...nobody would guess what's under the hood. I really believe this is the car that Marlin met up with years ago

Somebody should buy this...add some headers and 4.10's, a little more tire and then go terrorize the neighborhood.

Amazing how undervalued novas are. Great cars and easy to work on. Should really not still be for sale.
Somebody could Day-2 this car a little, take it to the track and run easy mid 12's all day and then drive it back home, just like the old days.
Can set up some match races with Sully's nova! Another bad azz car!

I love Novas. I agree with you Sam. Car would be an excellent Day 2 platform. Only think holding it back is the color. Paint it white for a Hurst theme or black for that Smokey feel and enjoy it for the BMF it is!

1970 was the year of earth tones...Forest Green and Autumn Gold were very common.
My first Nova was Forest Green

Leave the color as is... that is what makes it such a great sleeper...this car doesn't even have the engine call outs on the front fenders...looks like a 6 cylinder

The Nova has been sold and is staying within the sYc family.

We will not be parting it out.

Congrats to the new owner!

Congrats to the owner.
He and I had been talking about Stefano's car for a week or two.
We talked last night and he is putting together a "class of 70" cars.

Will be cool to see when he unveils them.

Rich

YenkoSFC 07-09-2015 11:17 PM

Re: 1970 Chevy Nova L 78 396

Thanks Rich, may be a while before the "class of 70" cars are unveiled. Maybe we'll reveal one at a time for now. But it's true, I've been blessed with purchasing 2 cars from the Yenko.net forum over the last week, super excited about both!

Real question is, should this L78 Nova get restored or keep as original as possible? I'm leaning in the direction of keeping the paint original as the line goes "you can restore a car 1000 times, but it's only original once". But you can also argue that this car is surely worthy of a good resto. Tough call, maybe just correct the areas of rust and leave the rest original and decide over time for now... Re: 1970 Chevy Nova L 78 396

IMO, restoration would be out. First stop - the best paintless dent removal person you can find. Then, gently clean and detail with as little disruption to original as you can. Drive and enjoy!

Awesome car, congrats on the purchase

Re: 1970 Chevy Nova L 78 396

Thanks Bill, appreciate the advice. Funny you mentioned it, Stefano already scheduled his dent removal guy for early next week and we're also adding the original Reedman emblem back on the car. Agreed, we'll get her detailed and cleaned up, which I'm sure this will all make a huge difference in presentation...

So correct me if I'm wrong, you're saying leave paint all alone including rust areas like quarters and fenders? As long as it's not continuing to corrode? The last thing I want to do is start fixing areas of rust & paint issues that may actually hurt the originality and ultimately the value over time. Thanks again for your input!:)

Unless it looks worse in person than it does in the pics, then yes, I would leave it alone. Once you start painting, it can be hard to stop.

Re: 1970 Chevy Nova L 78 396

Point well taken. Stefano and I spoke about a couple small areas that may need attention, but for the most part I'll do my best to leave her alone!

Re: 1970 Chevy Nova L 78 396

Drive it first. Have some fun with it.

I would fix the rust at the bottoms of the fenders and bottom of 1/4s. You need to work with guys who can work around the originality and match the current patina. Check with the guys at MASCAR, they understand originality and have experience with NOVAs

Re: 1970 Chevy Nova L 78 396

I'll certainly have some fun with her first. And yeah I have just the guy for the job, definitely plan on taking care of the bare minimum to keep as original as possible. Thanks for the feedback fellas!
