Hey Tom, Not yet. Been up north for a month and won't be home for another few weeks. Maybe when I get back I'll swap out the old ones. Still not sure, tough decision.

I vote slots.

Re: Cars with Torque Thrust style wheels!

+2 on the slots. However, given the era the car was build, satin Centerline Auto Drags would be a decent choice too. Polished TT2s gotta go, IMO.

Re: Cars with Torque Thrust style wheels!

Thanks for the opinions, appreciate them. Spending summer up north, so when I get back I will try to figure out which direction to go with. To add insult to injury regarding the TT2s on it, they're 16's so that's even worse, lol.

Was considering going the BFG Radial T/A route since those were out when my car was done, so we'll see on the tires as well. Not sure if I want to do that, and would have to see if I'd want to roll with the white letters showing.

JMHO....
Mark, you're '68 has a "very busy high impact" paint scheme......I think the RWL tires will detract from the overall effect and time period.
Black walls at that time were in vouge with custom paints......more stock or single color would accept RWL's....

Choosing the Right Wheel will be more of an Impact I feel.

Aluminum slots, Highly polished, skinnies up front and deep dish for the rear.......
N 50's (295's & 305's) were outdated and out of favor by that time. (Later 70's early 80's)

BFG's 275-295 60 blackwall on early Weld Wheels or Champ 500's , Slots and or Cragar SST's.. SS, CENTER LINES are COOL. Too. .
You have more period choices than an early to mid 70's themed Cars.

Jmho....

Re: Cars with Torque Thrust style wheels!

I'm with Day2-_z28 top of the line ISCA cars rarely ran white letters.

Slots are too old. Cragar SS ok , early Centerlines or polished aluminum Cragar Super Tricks..
Champ 500 wheels..meh

Found some Wheels for you.......
The rear tires may be a bit much. ..M/T 's I think in Racing Profile......

Re: Cars with Torque Thrust style wheels!

They're not horrible, but I just don't like them enough to put them on the Camaro. If I went that route, I'd go with old Centerlines I think.

Good point about the slots. They were already "out" by the early 1980s. SSTs were popular, but they always looked cheap to me. Wels wheels seem like they were more of a late 1980s thing (at least to me). Satin Centerline Auto Drags get my vote (with blackwalls, of course). Cragar SS would work too. Re: Cars with Torque Thrust style wheels!

We had Weld Wheels on 2 cars in 1984.
But I agree on the 500's ....No !
And , John, my feelings exactly on the SST's....
Cheapo imitations...... Real Super Tricks or Centerlines......

Any thought on Daisy's in grey ?

Duh......BIG n Little CRAGAR SS.....MY CHOICE!

Keystone Klassics might look good.

Re: Cars with Torque Thrust style wheels!

Yeah, sure seems like it's destined to have Cragar SS's on it. Wife isn't a fan of polished slots (and she's been a total champ about the entire deal, so I gotta cut her some slack), and I am just not sure satin Centerlines match all the chrome on the car.

Re: Cars with Torque Thrust style wheels!

The silvers compliment satin aluminum.....
If you're lucky enough, maybe you can borrow from a buddy a 1/2 set and try em ....
When you have a car build going on anything goes..
Beg, Borrow or Steal ...
We all do it or have done it.

.BUT YOU AINT BORROWING MY CRAGAR SS's.
I know better,,,,,,I'll never get them back.

Where are you up North ?

Car needs either chrome or polished aluminum wheels.

Was in Pgh for a few days working and now in Eastern KY. Next year we're coming to Pgh for 2 weeks and actually doing some vacation while we're there.

Totally agree Dave.

Re: Cars with Torque Thrust style wheels!

An old beat up polaroid that is precious to me. It was given to me by the original owner of my '68 RS when I bought it from him 3 years ago. He was home on leave from Vietnam when he bought it new at Grant Chevrolet in Fremont Nebraska ( 10 blocks from my shop ). He took this picture the day he brought it home, "in transits" and all. It's creased because he took it back with him to show all of his buddies. This photo has a lot of mileage on it.

Back to the theme of this post - 1st retail owner took delivery with Torq Thrusts that were installed by the dealer when the owner's son was using it as a demo. It was sold as a new car this way.

Here's my 67 L78, pics are from around 1982 from previous owner. At the time car still had it's original paint dark metallic green. The torque thurst are 14 front and 15 rears. Car in primer is the way I bought it in 2011.

IMO 67-69's look better w/o the rear spoiler except Z-28 cars.

Doesn't look like original paint.

Especially '67s. I've been fighting this battle for years.

The Day 2 wheels of the 1960s were usually 14-inch so the original tires could be used. OEM redlines on 14x6s were common.
