One of my favorite missing cars. I believe the car was returned to Dana and sold.

My wife's uncle has got a white 4k camaro hanging from a rotisserie that's been on it since 74. The story I heard was his best friend bought the car raced it then got shot by local police and his parents gave it to his best friend which is my wife's uncle.i need to get over to look a little closer. I was told it was in hot rod magazine in the early 70s. I do know its a white car. |
Re: Missing Muscle Cars
I think that dana car was yellow.

Re: Missing Muscle Cars
What about the Hemi killer ? Grumpy's 66 Nova , I would say alot of the cars were tubbed out later in life & still racecars .... Just went to Indy this weekend to the U.S. Nationals & saw a bunch of cool old iron .... Loved that Hemi challenge on friday.....

grumps red chevy II wrecked on the way home from indy
stripped and sat in a wrecking yard till the '80s, was crushed and recycled. ...last run, final round red light loss to stahl... How about Jim Morrison’s Shelby GT500 ?

Re: Missing Muscle Cars
I have a friend with a roll bar he claims is out of a factory '66 L-88 Corvette race car. Last I talked to him he thought he had located the remnants of the car in central PA.

How many 1963 Z11 Impalas are missing? Wasn't one stolen many years ago and never recovered?
|
Re: Missing Muscle Cars
I have spoken with one of the guys that was involved in the merolis stolen cars, they ripped off 2 of them, stripped the motors and dumped the cars, all they wanted was the alluminum motors, they both went into drag boats

I met a guy years ago that had a complete Z-11 engine on the stand in the back of an old shed. He said he bought the whole car back in the early 70's, but only wanted the 427. He pulled the motor, sold the rest and never heard anymore about it. Said the car was silver or light blue and came from back west somewhere. I don't know how much truth there is to the story, but the engine was definitely real. |

Re: Missing Muscle Cars
Ahhh...here's a Rumor that's been kicking around Western Pa for the last few years:
The other Grumpy's Toy Nova L79 is alive in ultra Rough shape sitting along side a defunct gas station in New Alexandria, Pa. Home Town of : Pittsburgh Raceway Park Originaly known as Keystone Raceway Park The story goes as this: Jenkins sold the Nova at the end of the Season to this local Gas station operator and raced it for years ,off and on at Keystone unlettered,it was still well known as Grumpy's Toy. Now,decades later, the owner lives hermit like in the closed gas station with a rusted shell of an icon near by. (I believe this may be the white one,not the red candy striped car that was totaled)....... Tim Lopata may know of this "storied rumor" for those wanting to turn over a few stones...... I know of a few people who recall the early history and have seen the remnants, albeit unconfirmed by Grump before his passing of the real story.....Hmmmm any treasure hunters on the site ??? |

Asking if their are any treasure hunters on the site is like asking if the sky is blue

Re: Missing Muscle Cars
YEP !!!
Just trying to get one chasing this lead, as I have no interest in doing so.....I can provide a name & number of a Pgh guy who chased it and then ran out of steam upon Grumpy's death. ( he couldn't finish documenting the info) |
Re: Missing Muscle Cars
FYI....the sky I'm looking at right now is gray....lmao....

Re: Missing Muscle Cars
About the Z16 convertible,I was in tenn. buying some nos 67 chevy 2 otr panels and the guy shows me a 65 chevelle convertible and the motor that he states is a Z16.I didn't think they made any convertible Z16's.He stated that it was one of one, older drag racer, worked for TCI.He gave me a 1982 TCI partcipant shirt from us nationals still in the package. He was building motors for racing, had a engine dyno in the shop, motor cores everywhere.Could it have been real? This was about 2007.I might have his number,I think his name was Danny.
