jer: the only ones that fit are the original TT D"s from the 60's which those are on that Z28. No current offerings from American to fit these cars except the modern looking two piece polished TT's. Those old wheels are not that hard to find, but they were only made in two widths: 6" and 7", plus they were only in 15" diameters. Appliance made the exact same wheel and they are easier to find with only subtle differences from what I was told by my old school wheel guy. I have learned a lot from him the past few years regarding tires and wheels. JT |
Re: cars with vintage american racing wheels
Right on all counts. 1960s TTDs are typically $1500-2000 for a good set.

Re: cars with vintage american racing wheels
I did try on a couple of different Torque Thrust II's (the newer polished versions) with different backspacing(s) if I recall correctly, quite a while back and neither would clear my calipers..
Not the spokes or the shape or curvature of them that were the issue - but the edge of enter hub itself. |
Re: cars with vintage american racing wheels
Just finished the safety check and loaded the Corvette into the trailer for the historic races next weekend in Monterey. Even though I like the look of other wheels on these cars, it's just not the same without them... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...66_vette_2.jpg

Re: cars with vintage american racing wheels
Here are pics of my L78 as found, and one with the original color from a previous owner in early 80's. The wheels on the center cap say American Racing (not Am Racing Equip.)and nothing on the back side at all nothing. The fronts are 14 x 6 and fit over the factory front dual piston brakes, rears are 15 x 7.

Re: cars with vintage american racing wheels
So tell us more on those headers? Looks like a couple of those pipes hopped over the frame rails, how do you remove them?
|
Re: cars with vintage american racing wheels
they are Cyclone 2 1/8' tube race headers, they have one tube on each side over the frame. those two pipes have slip tube fit and go on seperately.
