1984, with my 1971 440+6 four-speed Cuda ragtop. One of five produced. This was after I found it and was U-Hauling it back to Connecticut from Miami. Had to stop at "South of the Border" to get a bumper sticker.

Here's a picture from about 1977 in front of my house (swimmers house) at 730 Water St. Eau Claire, WI.
This was the night of a big party. Can you read the sign that we borrowed from a hotel in Madison?

Man I love the high school pics. Those were the days. I was also class of 80.
Sadly no pictures either. They could have become evidence.

Not a muscle car but this is my 1979 3/4 ton Chevy van I bought new from Sutliff Chev in Harrisburg and took it staright to a friend of mine who was the art teacher at Southernhttps://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...79chevyvan.jpg

Huntington High School in Three Springs, PA, he would take his students over to his home during class and let them help him paint the scenes on the van. He also painted my 1973 Z/28.

Wow, the paint on that van is cool, but you totally nailed both the van and the Z with those SS rims, as well as the sidepipes on the Z. Pure 70's goodness.

My first Camaro with friends in 75, parking lot behind barracks at Dover AFB, I'm at the driver door. 10 10 SS350 4speed console and gauges, 12 bolt 3.55's. This car had steel wheels and hub caps.

Hey Gary, it should have had a silver grill, was it replaced? All black cars got silver grills.
red hockey stripe I assume.

Yes, red hockey stripes. You can see it on the open drivers door. I was wondering about that when I bought the car. The fenders stripe was painted and the doors had decal type. Didn't know that was done then.

It was my understanding the SS cars got black grills. Is that not correct? The Z28's and the plain Jane and specialty cars got silver and the black RS cars got silver. I saw it for sale in front of one of the barracks close to the flight line when I was first stationed at the base. The car had Virginia plates and the original owner was being shipped overseas. I bought it as it looks in my pic. I pulled the SS emblem because I liked the grill plain and it had hood pins and I tucked the lanyards into the grill. IIRC, it was still an original paint car, I don't believe it was ever wrecked. Look to the left in the pic and you'll see my 67 GTO I sold to buy the Camaro. More pics.

I sold the SS and a week later it was totaled. Here is my first 10 10 69 Z28 in 76. It had a wrecked front end and I picked up a complete front end from a wrecked in the rear Camaro at a local salvage yard. Had it painted and the shop ordered a new hood, ZL2, and grill, black. These pics of the car are right out of the paint shop, still needed to add the rear bumper guards and wheel well trim. I had the Camaro script shaved off the fenders and had a Gothic letter Z painted there, you can see it in the pics. I got orders to go overseas myself in 79, Mildenhall, AB and sold it and a week later I got a call from the guy that bought it off me saying he sold it to some young kid in Baltimore and he totaled it.

Bought this in 82 when I got back to the states. Yeah, my kids. I own the 69 Caprice in the pics too. Never got the chance to do anything with the 67, divorce got in the way. This was a white Camaro with Gold interior 327, power glide.

Bruce...I noticed the comment on water marking photos, can you recommend something? There is quite a bit on this when I Googled. Is it better to go to a site and go thru the motions or have your own stand alone program?

My first SS396POS circa 1982/1983:

http://www.vintagemusclecarparts.com...e_driveway.jpg

396 version 1 (L34 based with a Crane CC290NC solid cam, Vega converter in a Turbo 400, 4.56 12 bolt):

http://www.vintagemusclecarparts.com...y_Chevelle.jpg

396 version 2: 11-1's, square port closed chamber heads and the same Crane cam.

Never got this one to the digs, but it was considerably stronger than version 1:

http://www.vintagemusclecarparts.com..._Tunnelram.jpg

At the digs in 1983 with 396 V1:

13.20's @ 107 with ZERO hook on Kelly Springfield N50's.

(Not too shabby for a dumbass snot nose kid.)

http://www.vintagemusclecarparts.com...t_the_bike.jpg

Spun a rod bearing on the next pass which resulted in 396 version 2.

Giving a friend something to waste the last few pics on a roll of film on:

http://www.vintagemusclecarparts.com...le_burnout.jpg

I would give everything I have to be able to go back to those days.

Another One:

This was not mine in 69, but I am the current caretaker of the "Tin Soldier" COPO. I did meet Ron, the original owner as well as get these vintage photo's from him

Ron was a pretty well known privateer from back in the day, and the Tin Soldier COPO a multiple class winner. Only has 4,000 miles from new... All 1/4 at a time.

Awesome..... we need to have a showcase at one of the shows and get all of the old battle wagons in one room. That would be a killer display.

When are you going to put the rat patrol logos back on?

My 69 Dart Swinger 340, purchased in December 1970 from the local VW dealership (dealership owner lived across the street from my mom ) for $1700. 4 speed, R4 red with black vinyl top and stripe delete. This is the only actual photograph I have left of it, a blurry Polaroid. My friends' 69 Super Bee is in the background.

http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i1...ps129e2619.jpg

The much better, clearer Polaroid I had of it, I gave to a friend of mine who wrote a column for the local paper in the 1980's so that he could use it. I never got the Polaroid back , but here's the picture as it appeared in the paper with his captioning (slightly exaggerated, I might add)

Re: Vintage pics of muscle cars-post yours up here!!

In June of 72 I traded the Swinger to a friend for a 68 Olds 442. Kept that all of 3 weeks and sold it to another friend because I found what I really wanted - Cortez silver 70 Z28, 4 speed.

http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i1...ps8d8784b5.jpg

In September 72, my girlfriend (now wife of 40 years) and I both had some vacation time to use up, so we loaded up the 70 Z and headed to South Carolina to visit my friend (and his wife) who was stationed there in the Army. Here are a couple pics of us in SC with the car...back in the days when I had a little more hair....

Kept the 70 Z28 until 3/14/73, when I traded it in on a new 73 Z28 at Fencl-Tufo Chevy in Glendale Heights IL.

This is a picture of my now-wife and I on the way home from our honeymoon in April 74.

Marilee and our dog Cisco sometime in the winter of 74-75, with the 73 Z and my friend's 65 Impala convert in the background.

http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i1...winter74_1.jpg

Quit driving the 73 Z on a daily basis in early 1976. Despite my pledge when I bought it new to keep it totally original, I did the Day-2 thing in 1977. My good friend Dave Schele (R.I.P., Dave ) did an awesome pearl flame paint job on it, keeping the original color of Midnight blue metallic.
