X2, I was going to get mine orange ceramic coated, but locally they only do chrome, black and satin. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/ubbt...ger#Post534284 DL |
Re: day 2 headers
I'm going to bring this topic back to life.
Joe (ssl78396) shared pictures of these headers with me. Here are a set of Bill Thomas C1 Corvette big block headers. Verified by the catalog pages from a 1969 Bill Thomas catalog. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics..._02_12_003.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics..._02_12_008.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics..._02_12_013.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics..._02_12_010.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics..._02_12_014.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...6-dsc03364.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...7-dsc03365.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...8-dsc03368.jpg Congrats again Joe on the great find. I wish they were hanging on my garage wall. I will let Joe fill any missing details from here. Thanks, Marty |

Re: day 2 headers
I am looking for a set of Belanger headers for first gen Camaro. Or any pictures I can use to make a set. Those M/T headers sound INCREDIBLE. I worked on a 71 GS 455 convertible with a set on, it had a 70 Stage 1 engine in it and all I wanted to do was idle around. The greatest sound I ever heard, and I am a Chevy guy.

Hooker 1st Gen. BB Camaro Comp. Headers. Close look reveals crankcase evacuation tubes on collectors.
|
I got these a couple years ago on Ebay. They're NOS Cragar Hot Pipes for BBC 2nd Gen Camaro's. If the fitment works out in my 73 I'm gonna have them coated with the same blue color. Even if they don't fit I'll probably never sell them, just too cool!

Love 'em. Don't blame you for not getting rid of them. Very cool look!

N.O.S late 70's early 80's Blackjack. These recently replaced a set I put on in 86?? Pretty decent set to last 31 years....
BIG |
Those Cragars are hands down "the" best looking header I've seen yet. Liking the Bill Thomas ones too!

Here's a few pics of my NOS blackjack headers that I'm installing on my chevelle this spring. They came painted white but I had them jet-coated white.

Here's a pair of Mickey Thompson Super Scavengers that I just picked up.

They look like BB Chevelle, nice score.

There may be an alpha numeric stamping on the external side of the one of the flanges that attaches to the head. This code can help you deternine the application and when/where (there were several plants over the years) the header was made.
|
Nice score on the headers Matt.
I wanted a set of those for my small block and had Nathan Schmitt fabricate a set for me. He bought the dies from Bruce Wright and is now re-making these again. Just picked them up from Montana yesterday and unpacked them last night. They look awesome and I can't wait to hear these on the new Crossram motor. https://image.ibb.co/fi4xAS/IMG_8980.jpg |
The part number for the BBC camaro is 38763513. This may help identify them
|
NorCam, you going to do a you tube video so we can hear them?
|
Those look terrific Graeme!

That would be awesome to hear that small block sing!
I have experience with the M/T Scavengers for a few Stage One Buicks back in 80's/90's- Nothing compares to that sound running uncorked with Hi-Po V8! So if I can muster the funds for a set for '69 Z/28 in future, will they be easy to order since you paved the way as far as the R&D for these? Do we call and ask for the Graeme Special?? |
Nice
I see you had the headers set up to run oxygen sensors The orange coating looks sweet on the headers. |

Yes Bernhard, I sent him a set of bungs and he welded them in. I have an Innovative 02 scanner for reading air fuel at idle and cruise so I will use it when setting up the Crossram carbs. |

What I found really cool and had actually been forewarned about, was that the ceramic coat changes colors when you run them. They start out bright orange, go tomato red when being ran, and then they change back to orange as they cool. Now how cool is that? https://image.ibb.co/kBAU9y/IMG_0360.jpg Before being run... https://image.ibb.co/gw5wpy/IMG_0371.jpg And immediately after |
And here's the run video of the new 383 with the M/T style headers. Uncorked for now...
Love these pipes. :) |
Those sound and look awesome!:headbang:
|
COOL! That color change is great.
|
Nice
Top shelf from the engine run stand to the build! |
Sensational Graeme. Sounds sinister and stout!!!
|
I'm waiting to hear yours run with those M/T's Sam.
That's gonna rock! |

I just picked up a couple sets of Day 2 headers. The guy I bought them from said they were off a 1964 GTO.
The black set is “MADE BY ED” headers. I’m not sure who made the blue set but I was thinking Cragar but I don’t see a part number. Kurt |
I have a set of Headers by Ed for a first-gen Camaro and they are just gorgeous.
Nice find. I don't believe Cragar ever made a header with a removable collector, so I'd guess they were made by someone else. Anything marked on the flanges? |
Kurt,
Your headers need to go South of I-80 :) Dan |
I looked all over the blue headers and didn’t find anything stamped on them anywhere. They are so clean, I thought for sure I’d find something.

I purchased these BBC headers from Chris Clark recently. We both thought they were Appliance because they looked exactly like ones for sale here on the Yenko site.
But when I looked up the part number on my headers, they were different than the Appliance headers, which were CH22. Mine are stamped 5022. chevyandpontiac (Dan) looked up my part number and mine are actually Blackjack headers...so apparently, one company made headers for multiple companies. Just thought it was an interesting story. Mine are out of the way until I decide if I’m going to use them or not. Here is the ad for the Appliance Headers https://www.yenko.net/forum/showthread.php?t=135872 Kurt |
