Re: Help With Possible LS6 Chevelle
This was purchased on eBay last year and sitting at the media blasters after we pulled the nose off it. I knew it was a big block high optioned car but didn't think an LS6 until we pulled the rear and found it was coded CRW.

Re: Help With Possible LS6 Chevelle
Nice...a charcoal canistered LS-6 too.
Mulsanne Blue white bench w/white stripes. Any chance of showing full pictures of the underside of the hood? |

As for paint code - I don't know why they did it this way but the trim tag is a Buick Stratisfire Blue which appears to be same as Mulsanne. What is really interesting is that the firewall is marked 26 which is Mulsanne Blue. This is a really cool and special car. Not another one in registry or anywhere that I can find. I spoke with Herb Hallman Chevy today and they say they don't have sales records dating back that far. I would say they probably do but don't want to be bothered. I really want to find the drivetrain - is there anyone that can do a title history on the car for me? Car is titled in Nevada. |
Re: Help With Possible LS6 Chevelle
Tanks are cheap... leave it on the tank for now. If thats the only paper proof you have "Guard it with your life and don't touch it!"
Congrats |

Good stuff Todd.
Definitely an unusual color combo. |
Re: Help With Possible LS6 Chevelle
I think the color combo is great. Mulsanne blue, white stripes and ivory interior.

Re: Help With Possible LS6 Chevelle
Paint code 26 is also Pontiac Lucerne Blue, the 1970 Trans Am color.

Hey Tod just picture this car all done.
Photos below has a Fathom blue SS with white stripes and white bucket seats just to give you a feel, yours will have a bench seat though. The photo under that is a Mulsanne Blue SS with black stripes and black bench seat interior to show the difference in the color. But imagine this car with white instead of the black, would look sweet. |
Re: Help With Possible LS6 Chevelle
Danny,
Thanks for the pics. I spoke to the selling dealer again and they do not have any documentation on the car. I am doing a title history on the car and hopefully track down the original drivetrain for the car. I bought the car just 30 miles from where it sold new so I am sure it is probably still around the area in someone's garage. |
Re: Help With Possible LS6 Chevelle
GOLD!Good find.Congrats.
|
Re: Help With Possible LS6 Chevelle
They are out there as many have said - don't think any of them will be advertising themselves so armed with a little knowledge, a keen eye and some patience it could happen to any of us. This car was purchased to be a donor for an LS pro touring car.
I have gotten several messages about selling the car. Being that I do not have the technical expertise to restore the car the way it should be done I will consider selling it. Just send me a pm and we could discuss. I would really love to see the car go into the hands of someone that will return it to its former glory. |
Re: Help With Possible LS6 Chevelle
Congrats and very nicely played!
Great to see a real LS6 exposed especially down to its last chance before being lost. ~ Pete |
Re: Help With Possible LS6 Chevelle
It is interesting that they hand write the stripe color on the build sheet.
|
Re: Help With Possible LS6 Chevelle
That's typical of special order paint vehicles, when stripes were included.
They had a pre determined stripe plan for each Std. color. But when a customer went off the beaten path and chose a spcl. order color, they hand wrote the stripe color in on the buildsheet to alert the line. |
Re: Help With Possible LS6 Chevelle
Congrats! Great find.

Thanks Elon and everyone else who helped provide technical details to look for that helped me identify this car before it was gone forever. A close friend of mine is going to undertake the proper restoration on the car and plans to house it in a muscle car museum that he is opening in Arizona. I will keep everyone filled in as the progress moves along. Being that he plans to do a complete OE restoration on it the project will move quite slowly trying to find all the correct parts for it. We are currently working to find the drivetrain - being that I bought the car just 30 miles from where it was sold new I am sure that the drivetrain is around the area or someone knows what happened to it. |
Re: Help With Possible LS6 Chevelle
WOW! Just read this entire tread. Awesome.
|
Re: Help With Possible LS6 Chevelle
Car is on its way to Arizona for a correct restoration. I will try to post pictures as the progress moves along but as you know it is going to take quite some time to find all the correct OE parts for this car.
|
Re: Help With Possible LS6 Chevelle
Just a quick update on this LS6 car that was found. I sold it to my friend in Arizona and he is collecting as many OE parts as possible to do a correct restoration on it.
He also located the born with motor for the car - this should be a great build once complete. It is a very rare one off car with excellent options, special order paint and fully known one owner history. This was also a virtually rust free car. |
Re: Help With Possible LS6 Chevelle
Wow, I somehow missed this thread. Great find.
|
Re: Help With Possible LS6 Chevelle
How was he lucky enough to locate the original engine to the car,, and hopefully most of it was still together
|
Re: Help With Possible LS6 Chevelle
Great story and once again, hard work paid dividends.
|
Re: Help With Possible LS6 Chevelle
Unfortunately the motor was apart but I believe alot of the parts are still there. The original owner that sent the car to the body shop was local and the shop had remembered a few details. Also, the body shop and the owner were local to where the car was sold new.

Re: Help With Possible LS6 Chevelle
Nice work , even nicer story.
Im trying to chase down history on 67 Camaro but running into road blocks everywhere. Im close as I have some information but need to fill in the missing links. I too am chasing the cars original motor and trans however don't expect a result like yours. Any advice you could offer? |
Re: Help With Possible LS6 Chevelle
I would give you the advice to get on Facebook and get into every Camaro group and old muscle car group and put feelers out there with all of the info you have on it.
|
Re: Help With Possible LS6 Chevelle
Good Advice... Thanks Mark
|
Re: Help With Possible LS6 Chevelle
Multi line plants usually used the GM code number for paint whereas the single line plants used color names/ abbreviations (lt blue)
|
Re: Help With Possible LS6 Chevelle
Mike has finished the restoration on this documented LS6 that I found. I have to say it came out amazing.
Thank you to everyone who helped with identifying this amazing car. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics..._img958579.jpg |
Re: Help With Possible LS6 Chevelle
Wow, that has to be the best color combo I've ever seen on an LS6, beautiful car.
