Nice~!!!

Re: New Project showed up today......
A little more background on the car......I spent a couple of years playing around at the Drag Strip with this car .....mainly from 2002 thru 2007.......I had the car dialed in to run consistantly in the low 11's and high 10's............Now, after getting the car to run that good, I was told not to come back until I put a roll bar in the car as it was well below the 11.50 requirement for that Safety feature.........But....I didn't want to cut the car up and do that.....so.....I basically just put the car in the garage and it just sat.....I drove it on the street a couple of times and took the cold Nitrous Plugs out and put normal Heat Range plugs in........and it sat......
So......In 2007 I trailered the car down to the Super Car Reunion and decided to run it down the track....The crew at the track told me not to run the car on spray......and I wasn't going to.........LOL....But.....When I pulled the car up to the line that little troublemaker sitting on my shoulder (Well...Just say'in....).......so......As soon as I left the line I hit the NOS button and figured I would just make one run and put the car back in the trailer...........So.......I was looking to run in the high 10's.....when I got my time slip it showed that I ran an 11.45......WTF.......... I really never drove the car again as it just sat in the garage.......on my Grandson's 16th Birthday I gave him the car and he seldom drove it also............So.....As I am pulling the car apart today getting ready to pull the engine out.....I pulled the spark plugs out to get the headers off.......And......I find that 2 of the plugs had the electrodes burned off........Duhhh!!......I never put the cold plugs back in and the nitrous took the electrodes out......with the camshaft in the car it was hard to tell it wasn't firing on all 8..........Now I know why it slowed down............ |
Re: New Project showed up today......
Wow...running on 6 and turned 11.45

Come on Bruce, you know a lot of 6 Packs that run 11.45 Dan |
Re: New Project showed up today......
At least they couldn't complain about the missing roll cage running that time.

Re: New Project showed up today......
Haven't posted anything lately.......Let's just say I'm not impressed with the quality and support provided by Heidt's..........
|
Re: New Project showed up today......
That sucks!!
|
Re: New Project showed up today......
Update.........In buying the Heidt's Super Ride set-up.......and this not being the first unit they produced......You would think they would have the kit's engineering down to a point where it would be able to be assembled by a first grader..........LOL.......Guess I think with today's technology that would be a simple thing to do...........I'm being overly critical, but.....If someone was doing this for the first time, they should be able to follow the instructions and have no issues.........Not the case here.....
Again.....Just a few simple things.....The sway bar mounting blocks don't fit where they are supposed to because of the Weld fillet in that area.....Rework the blocks to fit.....the lower control arms are slightly different, they are not marked left or right, the instructions don't say which way they go....and the picture again is very un-clear.....so....I call and get a tech.....and asked him which way they go....he told me to follow the instructions......I say .O.K......you get a set of instructions and show me where it tells which way to install them......after reading the instructions he said........Humm!!....It doesn't say..........LOL........But,,He tells me to put the slightly longer side to the back......I said....O.K.......That's the way I installed them, But....How would a first timer know that......Then in mounting the sway bar links.....They were hitting the lower control arms......Called again thinking I had the wrong Sway Bar.....The Tech asked me if I had the correct bar.......I said how would I know that.....LOL..........Got nowhere there and ended up cutting and modifying the links to get everything to work.........and the last thing was in mounting the Calipers to the Heidt brackets....They are Wilwood calipers and need to be shimmed to center the caliper with the rotor......couldn't get the calipers to bolt on straight.....in looking deeper I found that there was another weld fillet that was into the caliper mounting surface that canted the caliper sideways as it was tightened.....had to get in and grind the weld away so the caliper would fit.........Again.........Poor Q.C., Instructions, and Engineering for the first time installer.......... Here are some pics as we went along......... http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...3-04-22001.jpg http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...3-04-22003.jpg http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...3-04-23003.jpg http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...3-04-27005.jpg http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...3-04-27006.jpg http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...3-04-27003.jpg |
Re: New Project showed up today......
That sucks Ken. You are not being overly critical....how can they not know there are issues? And do you think that Heidt's will do anything????Most likely not....they'll chalk it up to a "one time experience"
|
Re: New Project showed up today......
...and you forgot to say....but no one has ever complained....you`re the first?
Looking great my friend. Dan |
Re: New Project showed up today......
It looks like Heidt was so busy making pretty welds that they forgot all about it having to fit pretty well.
Bad publicity travels ten times faster than good publicity. Any business should know that. ...at least the car didn't come from New Yawk. |

Re: New Project showed up today......
Mr. Tibor..................calling Mr Mr. Tibor!
|
Re: New Project showed up today......
Let's just say I should have gone the Church Boys racing suspension route.........Lot's of Issues with the engineering, quality and information provided by the Heidts staff.....Finally getting past the Heidts issues.......Had a list of the issues that Heidt's needed to address and was to have a conversation with the head engineer to address these issues......LOL.....I guess they were sick of hearing from me about these points, so.......when I called to talk to him I was put on hold for 25 minutes.......I guess he didn't want to hear about the problems with their product..........Never again!!!...........But I'll explain more tomorrow with pic's.........
|
Re: New Project showed up today......
That sucks. I watched "Trucks" today on TV and they had one of their guys on there with some suspension pieces...Seems like the Wyotech guys that were helping out knew more than he did?

That was a close one!
Might want to check those springs while you're at it. *edit*--is that a groove worn in the tip of the valve? |
Re: New Project showed up today......
Extremely lucky to catch that!
|
Re: New Project showed up today......
Whoa!
That radiator, is that from an eBay company? Looks like the unit I purchased for my 67. |
