Has anyone figured out if we are still talking about the car in the original post on this thread? Mecum car with the X66 tag that sold. That is a good tag on that car. Has someone mixed up the stories?

"Chuck I have removed your statement because of the mix up between you talking about X11-X22, this car being X66 and it being second hand info. If your friend wants to post and straighten things out or if anyone has info that is clearer than what was presented then it can be posted"....................Thanks Charlie, agree 100% If anyone cares they can do thier own research.

<span style="font-weight: bold">... Is NOT THE CAR THAT YOU SAY WAS CLONED..... Correct?</span>

Re: L89 Opinion on Dallas Mecum Camaro

The vehicle that started this thread, N593096 is beautiful but is a clone. It sold at the Dallas Mecum auction but was returned by the buyer because he learned it was not real. The car was also run through the Kissimmee Mecum auction and did not sell. The trim tag looks real and no Camaro expert could tell that the X66 was originally an X11. This car was built from a small block X11 car. The paperwork is all fabricated with incorrect dealer spelling, non-existent salesman from that time, etc. It just shows to what extent some will go to fake a rare car. The car is currently on Ebay, item # 221186730297, buyer beware.

Reading this thread... I feel the line between real and clone just got more muddier. If this car has &quot;all&quot; the right paperwork and it sure 'passes' the experts for the most part here.. It is darn close to being a real car.. It is a beauty

No mention of any docs!

Re: L89 Opinion on Dallas Mecum Camaro

He is not selling it for clone money. Says he has docs and claims #'s matching motor. Sounds like fraud and misrepresentation to me. Nowhere does he state it's a clone. It's bad for the hobby.

...so Here is the car being discussed.... now on ebay...

Blue 1969 camaro ....on Ebay

...I tried to &quot;ask the seller a question&quot;.... but for some reason that option does not work.

... I believe the seller is a member here.... maybe he can clear things up

Is this the current owner?

Same car!

Re: L89 Opinion on Dallas Mecum Camaro

What gets me is, after mecum dealt with it once they tried to sell it again. I have been to Kissimmee 4 or 5 years and its amazing how much fake stuff is there. Camaros with fake tags, restamps, wrong parts, and the first one I looked at this year was a Norwood car, fake tag z with a la block and the ford caution fan sticker!

What's hard to understand too, is the seller really the same person as the buyer that started this old thread here?

Re: L89 Opinion on Dallas Mecum Camaro

So, after buying the re-bodied RS Copo real-muscle-1 stated in the old thread &quot;nobody else should go threw the problem...&quot;. I sent a message to the Ebay seller real-muscle-1 and informed him about the reality of the car he had for sale. His response was &quot;thank you&quot;. He had a real problem buying a Copo and finding out it was a re-body but he has no problem selling a known clone L89 for L89 money without disclosing the tag modification. Like musical chairs, no one is happy to be the one left standing, or out all their money. Just pass it on seems to be the motto for some of these dealers and auction houses. As always buyer beware.
