Didn't you paint the others? Being such a sweet body, it seems like it would be a dream to prime and block those panels. Either way, it will be sweet!

Re: 69 300 deluxe ZL-1 project
Ah Ha! You decided....The Sherwin-Williams paint was no match to the German Paints
All kidding aside, I stopped painting myself....I want to be around for my daughter for many years to come. Smart decision Albert. Dan |

Re: 69 300 deluxe ZL-1 project
Not much new to share..body is at the paint shop. Just got the frame back from blasting..now doing all the bodywork on the frame-control arms-rear etc...pretty boring mundane work, but it needs to be done.

Re: 69 300 deluxe ZL-1 project
Wow, beautiful 69, can wait for more pics.
Is it going to be green green green again? (IMHO it would be perfect green not a fan of color change cars) Ryan |

Re: 69 300 deluxe ZL-1 project
Great choice,
How far along is the restoration now? Is this the same owner as the YNOZL1 in the pictures of 2010 MCACN? (Says you set up that display of 69's WOW) If so does that mean there is a guy with two 69 Chevelles with ZL1's? I think the only aluminum engine I own is a "weed wacker". best of luck on the restoration. PS: I am catching up on 20 years of Chevelle Forums, great stuff here, I have been obsessed with 69's since grade school, I just never used to E-read. Ryan |
Re: 69 300 deluxe ZL-1 project
Hi Ryan,
Yes same owner, Albert (Alss) own`s the "YNOZL1" Burnished Brown Malibu and 3 other amazing 1969 Chevelle`s. I assembled the 1969 Chevelle Display in 2010, that was a fun weekend. Welcome aboard! Dan |
Re: 69 300 deluxe ZL-1 project
Hi Dan,
Nice to "E-Meet you". Your name is all over anything about 1969 Chevelles, that's "a good thing". I am planning my 2013 Muscle car "fix" and want to know what the best events are. July-Can-Am Annual Northern Chevelle Gathering, August-NOCC Northern Regional Chevelle Show, September-PSMCDR and November-MCACN. Hope to meet you in person at an event. Ryan |
Re: 69 300 deluxe ZL-1 project
Albert,
How's the frame coming along? |

Your selection of show events is outstanding, however if I had to pick only one....I would say THE MCACN`s is a MUST SEE It`s a one stop, see it all event. Re: 69 300 deluxe ZL-1 project
My list still has to approved in the Quarterly Appropriations Committee Meeting (QACM = Beautiful Chevelle Loving Wife).
PSMCDR and MCACN are now "non negotiables". Ryan |

Smart decisions Dan |

Ryan </div></div> So is she a beautiful wife who loves Chevelles or a standard wife who loves beautiful Chevelles? That lack of comma placement can come back to haunt you! |
Re: 69 300 deluxe ZL-1 project
Tee Hee,
She is beautiful, and loves Chevelles. I think she just loves Chevelles because she loves me, like I "love" shopping. Ryan Sorry if I am "thread stealing". or whatever the term is for going off topic, will respect topics in future. |
Re: 69 300 deluxe ZL-1 project

..and you can't go wrong with Dan..definatly one of the good guys!..some pics coming soon..been sanding the frame for weeks now it seems..close to paint though....and the beatiful wife thing.....aint real till we see pics
see ya at Can Am! |
Re: 69 300 deluxe ZL-1 project
Hi Albert,
Nice to E-Meet you. You guys are serious about pictures eh:) (whenever someone makes an outlandish claim you guys go for documentation) If you have too many 1969 Chevelles/Beaumonts, I can store one at no charge, but I will need the keys to start it occasionally. I had a triple green 69 Beaumont years ago, 307 3spd auto, it never shifted into third gear and smelled like urine, only on hot days. Still miss that car (Not so much) a ZL1 and an M22 would have made up for the funcky smell. The Can-Am event is during my busy shut down time at work so I may just zip down and back in the same day. (Only 2 hours from here) I will look for you. Ryan |
Re: 69 300 deluxe ZL-1 project
UPDATE!:..frame is finished...just the frame..I wound up using over a qt of filler to get all the pits out..lots of sanding too!..very happy with the results. Control arms and rear are next...then its assembly time
