Fabulous car

Re: 1970 W30 Coupe from Canada
70 Really was the Pinnacle for Oldsmobile design, Everything came together and they produced one of the best looking automobiles with the 70 W30's, the wing, the hood, aluminum rear diff cover, even though the 71-72 were similar the 70 Tail lights looked much better.

Re: 1970 W30 Coupe from Canada
You are so right Jim on the 1970 W-30. It had it all! Under the hood was one of the strongest GM motors ever designed. The body featured some of the most beautiful bodylines ever to come from GM. It was aesthetically handsome from ever perspective. Nothing more needs to be said!

Re: 1970 W30 Coupe from Canada
I still have this add in my files, I remember it from 1970, too.
|
Re: 1970 W30 Coupe from Canada
The 1971 is pretty cool also. If the governmental emissions guidelines had not come into play, the 1970 and 1971 W-30s might have featured the four-valve aluminum Olds 455 hemi under the hood.

Re: 1970 W30 Coupe from Canada
Just recently got off the phone with the Original owner : ) Owner #3 from Canada saw the W-30 on eBay and contacted us a while back. He bought the car from owner #2 with only 25,000 miles on the odometer in 1984 for $8,400.00. He had the foresight to contact the Original owner and ask for additional info and/or documentation. The Original owner had a picture of the car when recently purchased as well as the Dealer Shipping Invoice......similar info to a Window Sticker. The Original owner was a mechanic for the Car dealership and while he did have a Black White Stripe White Interior SS 396 Chevelle on order, the GM of the dealership wanted the First '70 W-30 they had received cruising the streets of Oshawa, so he cut the employee a deal in order to induce him to buy the car. |

Re: 1970 W30 Coupe from Canada
I purchased this car from Stefano, he completely under promised and over delivered with this car, it’s amazing and its 99% there. It is a very good driver car and will be restored to all its glory over the next year. This will be a great addition to my collection

So Mercury built at least two special-order black Eliminators?

Have you been to PSMCDR, or MCACN? Ryan |
Re: 1970 W30 Coupe from Canada

Re: 1970 W30 Coupe from Canada
Sending a big congratulations RST on acquiring Stefano’s 1970 442 W-30. I saw the car a couple years back at the Mecum Auction in St Charles. The car was awesome with such a great color combination and no question about its authenticity. I am very glad it will receive a full concours restoration. It truly deserves it. There was a large crowd around it when it was leaving. It sounded like a monster!
Your collection is phenomenal. I love your 1972 W-30 post coupe and 1969 W-30. Thanks for sharing the great photos! I am looking forward to seeing the black & white 1970 W-30 when it is completed. Thanks again! |
Re: 1970 W30 Coupe from Canada
Thank you very much, we will do our very best to make it right and perfect! Now all I need is a Black 71 and my Olds collection as well as my "Back in Black" collection will be complete.....although a Black W31 of any year would be nice

Re: 1970 W30 Coupe from Canada
No Chevelles, don't attend any shows, go to Cars and Coffee every now and then in Irvine, but promised Stefano I would bring some cars to MCACN.
|
Re: 1970 W30 Coupe from Canada
We are thinking about a 'Back in Black' display for MCACN this year.
Correction, it is not the "NicKey" show, but I know what you meant The '69 Black W-30 Coupe is also a Canadian Docs car. The Barrie Poole Cougar 'Border Bandit' was on display at MCACN this past show and is here in Chicago Land Collection. |

Re: 1970 W30 Coupe from Canada
Back in Black Collection, Oldsmobile Contingency.
A Black/Black White Stripe 1970 W-31 Holiday coupe has been added to the collection to be paired up with the 1970 Black W-30. Both cars have all original numbers matching drivetrains, M21 4 speeds and 3.91 rear gears. Both are also documented with original paperwork as well as the Original owners for both cars. An Invitation has been extended to both original owners to be reunited with their cars at MCACN 2014. Neither owner has seen their former car for decades! Also, the cars were driven and street raced, with all stock Mechanical equipment as supplied by Dr. Olds. |
Re: 1970 W30 Coupe from Canada
Nickey and MCACN`s Rock! This will be awesome to see.

Yeah, and by the time you have it restored you will have only emptied your wallet of about half-a-million $$$ or more.

You would restore a car like that? |
Re: 1970 W30 Coupe from Canada
NO, it is an awesome car just as it is, but I would imagine that someone with a lot of money might want the rarest & most perfect black W-30 convertible four-speed and completely concours restore it. The Kryta Brothers come to mind. Did you all also see the other original Matador red W-30 convertible four-speed that was on E-bay? That one I believe just recently sold. Both very cool cars for sure!!
