Sam..came home last night from a month long trip to Vzla to find HMM with your car on the cover. It put a big smile on my face. Very nice written story. Congrats to everyone who made this happened.

First, congratulations Linda. I hope you enjoy yours as much as I do mine.
And, I finally got my copy in the mail. Very nice. Sam, you did an excellent job on telling the story. The pictures are awsome. We are very proud to have been a part of this story.
Mike's right. The car couldn't have found a better keeper.

PS, I'm not the fire chief. Just a hose holder. (don't think about it Howie)

Thanks everyone, but not completely retiring, just retiring from high pressure hospital work and moving into something a little less stressful. I am actually drooling while waiting to see this mag. Was going to subscribe to HMM months ago but never got around to it. Too preoccupied with surgery, retirement, and moving to a new job. Kicking myself in the butt now!! Can't find a copy anywhere but I'm still searching! Looking back though I can honestly say we've not had one regret about selling the car. It certainly got what it deserved and we couldn't be happier!! Congratulations Sam, you deserve it! So impressed that YOU GOT THE COVER!!!!

Earl and Linda,
Let me know if you cannot find a copy and I will send you one. I have an extra copy and there is no more fitting place for it to be. Nice cover shot everyone! Looks beautiful.

Rick, What a nice offer, just reinforces what a great site with great people this is! I'm sure I'll be able to find a copy soon though, just so impressed with your generosity! Any tips on what stores carry this mag? Can't find any in this one horse town and every store that I've called out of town hasn't received their new issues yet. Keeping my car running in the driveway so I can head out as soon as I get a phone call from one of them. lol Thanks again Rick!

Sam I got my copy yesterday, and I was very happy to see you get the cover story about your car.
I did notice one thing. Do you get paid by Hemmings for writing the articles, or do you pay them to get your cars in the magazine?
Either way, your cars, and the stories that go with them are fantastic.
Great work!

My copy showed up in the mail yesterday and it was the first thing I opened up too. I have heard about beating your own drum, but I was quite impressed to see that Sam wrote the article and that it was one of the better written articles I have read in quite a while. Congrats on one of the best looking examples of a day 2 street beast!!!!!!

SS427 02-01-2011 06:23 PM

Re: Congrats to Sam (Mockingbird812) and Schoeny!

Sometimes beating your own drum is the only way to get things heard. Nothing wrong with beating the drum as long as you can still put your hat on and it fits......Sam did a great job on this one!

Sam, I haven't seen the article yet but I'm sure it's well done like the others you have written. Congrats! This is one of the nicest Day 2 cars out there.

Just got done reading the article too. Excellent job Sam! Start to finish it was a great read. The way you ended it had a nice subtle nudge to encourage more Day 2 coverage. I hope it catches on, but am fearful that it never will since Day 2 parts really benefit only a few of the advertizers. None-the-less, I trust you are proud of the coverage and cudos for giving the stry such depth.

Chris/Paul - appreciate the feedback! I hope it catches on too. As I recently mentioned here, this whole day-two thing will be made or broken by feedback from the readers. So, send your comments to Terry McGean, the HMM editor tmcgean@hemmings.com and let him know what you think!!

That sure IS a nice thing to do Chris!

Rick & Rick - congrats on getting your letters published in HMM . Terry (editor) knew that I had encouraged my sYc buds to comment on the day 2 stuff and you guys must have grabbed his attention - way to go!!

BTW - Terry said he received plenty of other unsolicited (non-sYc) letters too.
