Re: More L-89 Nova Info
I am at work so I am blocked from the webcast but did Drew mention SYC while this Nova was on the block?
|
Re: More L-89 Nova Info
No...I think a COPO was on the block. I was listening to it on my car radio on the way to get some food! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif
He also mentioned that's why they put the VIN's on their website! |
Re: More L-89 Nova Info
I found it very interesting that R&S did not refer to this car as a "1 of 1" and that was never mentioned. They did say the car was authenticated by Brian Henderson and restored at Legendary Motors in Canada, but never referred to it as a "1 of 1"
|
Re: More L-89 Nova Info
Thats because they know it is a "1 of 4" https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/haha.gif
|
Re: More L-89 Nova Info
What Drew said while the car was on the block was that "Everyone said that a car like this did not exist, so the experts were sent to Legendary Motors to inspect the car. Peter laid out the POP's from other Novas of the same era to compare and the experts were sent home with their tails between their legs"

Re: More L-89 Nova Info
Daves wording from the Window sheet........
The over 2 1/2 year rotisserie restoration is evident on this #1 Supercar. A 100% numbers matching "born with" drivetrain; all original sheetmetal, body panels, floor and trunk with perfect Tuxedo Black is powered by the 375 hp engine All components on the car are factory and date code correct This amazing Nova underwent a nut and bolt restoration to factory specs at Legendary Motorcar of Canada where the car was documented as authentic by Supercar experts during the assembly. Now!!........I find it Amazing that the "Experts" at Legendary that spent 2 1/2 years restoring the 1 of 1 "Holy Grail" car .......didn't even know that 074 heads were not correct for that application, or the engine shop that assembled the engine didn't question the piston/head/compression issue......"And" these guys are the "Experts" that walk on water........Remember....Dave said he took the factory installed original 074 heads off the engine to "Protect" them......Amazing......Non withstanding the fact that the Engine option was cancelled 5 months before the car was built....... Not to get into this again.......But......The history and prior ownership of the car is suspiciously swept under the rug......For the rarest Super car that Chevrolet ever built to not have it's background authenticated is a "Clue".... Ken https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/flag.gif |
Re: More L-89 Nova Info
Hey Ken.....if you talk to Dave, tell him there's another set of 074 heads for sale in the parts for sale section. He may want another "backup" set. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif

Re: More L-89 Nova Info
Can someone post a photo of the protecto-plate again. I have been doing research at various courthouses in the area in the deed record/archives rooms. If I recall the owner's address from 1970 was in Eastern Pa. When/if I get to that county, I can check who was the owner of that address back in 1970. I think a confirmation that the name and address on the protecto-plate are accurate as far "as the County records" would go a long way in helping me believe in this car.
..I remember seeing a foto of the protecto-plate somewhere in another thread..I cant seem to find it... thanks max |
Re: More L-89 Nova Info
Here's the RS link complete with photos of what you ask..
http://www.russoandsteele.com/collec..._/42-6150.html VIN# 114270W289169 Calvin L. White 418 Corinthian Ave. Hatboro Pa. The "CKT" is known as an L-89 M/T only engine code. http://i838.photobucket.com/albums/z...mug/l89pop.jpg http://i838.photobucket.com/albums/z...ug/l89pop1.jpg |
Re: More L-89 Nova Info
I searched through the tax records online during one of the other threads. Calvin White did indeed own 418 Corinthean until he sold it in Oct 2004. Something to go on if one were so inclined...

Re: More L-89 Nova Info
Anybody recall the 3000 mile Hugger Orange L-89 Camaro convertible that was sold at Atlantic City some 8 to 10 years ago. I know Pace me knows the car. Anyway that car had a Protecto Plate that looked identical to that one with the rust under the dynamo labels and the letters/numbers looked exactually the same. It was later determined that that one had been created by an expert down in south Flordia and aged. It to had a Jenkintown Pa. address. I called the number that went with the address, then found another number that also was to that house . The widow said her husband had died several years ago and He never had a Camaro he was a ford guy all of his 80 some years. The point to this is the creator of some of these plates searching recent deaths as the trail ends there. !!!!!

Re: More L-89 Nova Info
Doesn't pass the sniff test. Just check the tax records for Calvin on Corinthian Ave and looks like his name is actually Alvin. Could be a mistake by itself, but together I see red flags.

What is known is that the owner has provided some very conflicting and illogical details about the car. The Supercar Registry members still have many doubts about this car and the only one that believes in it to date are people that are not in the know of the details about it. As for the auction, the car was a no sale and with $300k pricetag it will never sell anywhere. Unless proven otherwise it is a gorgeous clone car. |
