Well guys, I took the plunge and got an '07 shelby gt 500, 1200 miles, torch red with white stripes. I must say it runs pretty good!!

Yes, they do run pretty good. Install an after market cold air induction kit and Predator tune and it'll run even better. Couldn't believe the difference this made in mine. This simple mod gets you 30-40 extra horsepower. This is basically what they did to achieve the 40 extra horsepower in the KR.

As a former Roush owner the handling on these cars is SOOOO superior to the GT500's. I would of taken the lower production, more balanced car over a straight line shooter everyday of the week. Either way, congrats on the purchase!

Get a smaller pulley on the supercharger, bigger injectors and a dyno tune and you will put down 600 hp..:)

and exhaust....JBA set up my buddys 500 and it is brutally quick. He has had a Viper, 360 Modena, M5 BMW, Lambo Guardo (spelling ?) and feels this car accelerates quicker. That is alot of HP for the money for sure. Congrats very very few cars will hang with it going straight.

I have seen the cold air kits and smaller pulleys. What exactly is a Predator tune?

A tune is a recalabration of the ecm parameters that control the a/f and other important adjustments that must be done if you install any sort of high flow air intake or larger injectors or maf. Tuning shops like Evolution or Tillmans do this while the car is on the dyno. I had it done to my car and picked up 40 hp without supercharging. Predator is one such company who sells 'canned' tunes which help but do not work as well as dyno tunes.

So if I take the car to a shop with a dyno I don't need to buy the handheld tuning device that is sold at many places? I saw a combo of a cold air box,pulley and tune which listed well over 100 rear wheel hp increase.Sounds neat!

you still have to buy a handheld tuner because they can and in a few different tunes. I have a 93 octane race tune, an 87 emissions tune(passes NJ emissions) and an 87 street tune for days i don't want to run 93 octane. + your stock tune.

I was looking at a kit that Steeda makes, cold air kit,sct tuner and pulley for $899.00. There is not any place real close with a chassis dyno,so if I add the kit will I be ok without putting it on the dyno? They are quoting an average 144hp increase at the rear wheels with their kit. Sounds intense.

Yeah, you'll be fine. A mail order tune isn't in the same league as real dyno time, but if there isn't a dyno close by it's a good alternative, and SCT writes decent tunes.

Beings that I run a registry for the 1982 to 1990 Dominator Mustangs... and came across this post. I have to Agree 100% with this. Special Edition Fox Chassis cars are already becoming collectors items. The Saleens, Predators, Dominators, MClaren Capri's, all already have a following that will only continue to grow.

The Fox cars will become collectible first. Starting with the dealer specials like the Dominators. Especially the early '83-'84 Dominators with the head work, solid cams, no smog equipment, cold air kits, special MSD ignition, non emissions Holley, etc. Then the race cars. Famous cars like Mike Murrillo's Star Car 1, Brian Wolfe's 86 GT, Stormin' Norman's red turbo 'Vert, etc. And then period modified cars. The Fox movement went through several distinct periods where certain mods were common, and the guys who grew up in those particular periods will be willing to pay good money for a solid, well built car done in the style they like. Notchbacks will lead the way in value in that category. My 2 cents.

EDIT: I should add that I include Saleen's, Steeda's, etc. in the dealer special category.
