Re: Taboo's 1969 Z28 Find
Neat car!..I say restore it back to it's original stock glory.
E&R Perfromance has been household name around here since the 1940's..First located in Chicago on B-R,then Paul moved it to Addison where Jeff joined him before they relocated to Villa Park. They now sit on R/R Ave.in Genoa. One of the last remaining machine purists on the planet with a good group of engine builders. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/flag.gif |
Re: Taboo's 1969 Z28 Find
Built sometime before mine,i say restore her.

Re: Taboo's 1969 Z28 Find
original DZ?? or did I miss that post??
|
Re: Taboo's 1969 Z28 Find
No it does not have its original DZ engine. It has a 1970 dated "0010" Block. The engine pad is too rusty to read. Re: Taboo's 1969 Z28 Find
that is a cool car. The 20 stamp on the hood matches the same stamp on my hood, and my cars vin is 656xxx which is darn close to this one, I agree with m22mike that its likely the week of the hood. I wonder if it had the endura bumper?? and how did the hood actually survive that front end hit? especially with hood pins?

Not a stitch. Some people say that you can't document a Camaro/Z28 without paperwork? It wasn't long ago that there was a thread (on another site) stating that we should crush/junk/part out Camaro/Z28s, which had no paperwork and needed more time, labor and parts, than what they are worth to restore. What do you guys think should be done with this one? [/ QUOTE ] I think I saw that thread too https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smile.gif My car is a little different. I like this one you found better (RS) but still it is the same basic color combo and it looks stunning in person... I call my car the Z Huggy Bear would own if he had a Camaro https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smile.gif Yep.. I would say dial that bad boy in . It will be a show stopper when finished with the combo in a RS Z .. forgeddaboutit ! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...77D80/th_3.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...7D80/th_10.jpg |
Re: Taboo's 1969 Z28 Find
Hey Chevy Thunder,
Are those aftermarket door panels in your yellow/yellow? Did you have to dye them to match the seat covers? Are the seat covers PUI? I am currently restoring the same color combo. |
Re: Taboo's 1969 Z28 Find

Re: Taboo's 1969 Z28 Find
Is this car being restored ?
|
Re: Taboo's 1969 Z28 Find
Yes it has been in the process of restoration. The metal work is done and car is in primer.
We just don't have the time to finish it any time soon. Anyone looking for a Kool RS Z28 project car? |
Re: Taboo's 1969 Z28 Find
Wow! That makes two DY Z/28s being brought back! This and the one Brent has. Here is a little known tidbit of info..... The color used on 1970 Okdsmobike Ralkye 350s is the same formula as 1969 Chevrolet Daytona Yellow.

Re: Taboo's 1969 Z28 Find
Very cool car Stefano. I have a buddy over here restoring an almost identical car, except it's a non-RS. Yellow HT interior not for everyone, but I really like it.

Yellow Yellow is only for Kool guys and gals

Re: Taboo's 1969 Z28 Find
Let me know if you have any interest in including that alarm in your restoration. I can tell you all about it, I have one in mine.
And btw - cool car! |
Re: Taboo's 1969 Z28 Find
Joe V Clayton Chevrolet was one of the premier 'performance chevy' dealers in the north Alabama region in those days; My 09C 72B/720 Z28 RS also came from Joe V. Clayton... Seems yours moved to Chicago area in the mid 70's??
|
Re: Taboo's 1969 Z28 Find
I think I'll pass on the dealer installed alarm. I still have it so I guess I'm stuck restoring it or maybe a restomod / protouring car?
Thanks for the info regarding the dealership. |
Re: Taboo's 1969 Z28 Find
Clayton is still open. I go by a couple times a week. If your lucky they might have papers. Paul Smith in Albertville,AL kept every single thing on every car he ever sold. I saw a lot of it while getting a copy of some paperwork on an SYC members 67 Belair. That dealer has since become defunct and the Grandson told me they finally got rid of all the remaining papers.

Re: Taboo's 1969 Z28 Find
Gary,
I also have a 09C built hugger orange/ 720 interior Z28 from Alabama, non RS. It also came up to the Chicago area in the '70s. It was sold at Gillespie-Durden Chevrolet in Prattville, AL according to the NCRS. |
Re: Taboo's 1969 Z28 Find
Hello Camaromb..
It would be interesting to compare data between our cars; mine is unrestored and all metal, glass, interior is factory original (only items replaced have been rubber parts and 'wearout items' like brake pads). note: Prattville is just north of Montgomery, AL. |

Tommy: re Joe V Clayton still being open.. Yes, it is! A good friend of mine is the Parts man there. I've checked periodically over the years trying to find out if they might have any original sales paperwork, but they've always told me (even back then, that they trashed it all years ago and didn't keep it). I think I checked the first time after I purchased my car in '76... always the same story.
I knew my car came from Joe V Clayton when I purchased it, because it still had the original 'dealer emblem' attached to the rear panel, along with a Joe V Clayton tag frame. I've since verified that via the NCRS production/shipment verification (18 Sept 1969 production) |

Moore's Salvage Yard in Callensburg, PA had a Daytona Yellow 69 Z28 in its' yard back in the 80's-early 90's. He kept it up close to the house and you'd better not stray off the path to go over and look at it. I did in 83ish......never did that again! Ended up being sold probably in the mid 90's. |
Re: Taboo's 1969 Z28 Find
I have a yellow/yellow HT that is most likely the only one made with its configuration.
How many of y'all have seen a 69 Z with a BO rear? This car is a late build, October, and actually has a CBO rear. There couldn't have been very many Z's made with that rear, much less a yellow/yellow HT one. It is an absolutely gorgeous color combo, especially with a black vinyl top. |
Re: Taboo's 1969 Z28 Find
Back in the day there was a Daytona Yellow/yellow ht/black VT JL8 Z/28 around here. Sold new out of Dale Chev April 1970. Was restored without the top. Went to IL in the '90s, no idea where it is now.

Re: Taboo's 1969 Z28 Find
There is another Daytona yellow/yellow houndstooth black vinyl top '69 Z28 in the Chicago area. I was at the MCACN show a few years ago.

wow, that sounds like a really cool car. im not always a huge yellow fan, but a buddy of mine had this car and i loved it. i really like them with the VT but stefano's will be super cool too. i get that the color combo isnt for everyone and respect that. but, its pretty rare with the yellow HT and very nice for a change, at least. guarantee you whoever ends up with stefano's will have the only one in their part of the world. |
