Re: SS Wheel valve stem extensions

The only GM number I have for them is 9417745 for 1969-70. I have not had any luck finding any as of yet.

That part number is still available at your local dealer.

Re: SS Wheel valve stem extensions

Thanks Brian! I ordered a pack of 5 and will see if it pans out. It stated they were a special order part. I have visted that site before in the past for other newer parts and never thought about older parts & number searches https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif

Re: SS Wheel valve stem extensions

I have done a little more research on these extensions and found out that they were also part of the RPO P01 fullsized hub caps found on Impalas and Novas. Not a desireable hubcap though. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/burnout.gif

Re: SS Wheel valve stem extensions

For model year(s) 69 and 70 (and through at least 73), the original factory supplied extensions were supplied by Schrader and delivered in a brown paper container that, most likely, was deep sixed during new car prep. The reproductions have the white rounded center and were reproduced (probably) from the later 'in service' units pictured above.

I have only seen two sets (four to a set) of original Schrader extensions for sale. They are certainly a tough score today. Good luck with your search.

Regards,

Mark

Thanks for the pics Mark.......I will post some pics on the GM replacements when and if I get them. I have saved your pics for future scouting.

Well I ordered some but they emailed me a week later and told me the part is discontinued and cancelled my order. Oh well still looking. Thanks again https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/burnout.gif

Re: SS Wheel valve stem extensions

I'm showing many dealers still holding inventory on these, but it's the later more common shorter, white plastic cap design #989276,not the earlier longer 1970 original metal cap design of #9417745.I've only seen the metal cap design as an accessory for luxury/economy models and not installed on the line for any Hi-po models.
I bought a box of the later in the bag design #276 in the picture above back in 1992 from a local dealer here.
I'm pretty sure those in the bag above picture were available between 1985-98.
