Re: Manifold coating

I'd be interested to know the cost of this "special" treatment that you are waiting 6-8 weeks for.....

I can have flame sprayed/aluminized manifolds done in Seattle THIS week.....This coating is approx .008 thick
and the vendor alledges it doesnt change the complexion of the cast iron. I would then include a can of VHT 1200' Cast Iron paint, so that you can color to replicate the factory look.

Chuck...Give Jerry a call and ask him what he charges for the job. Tell him about your connection and see what his response is. 410-781-0418 is his number.

My offer and suggestions are in no way meant as a connection to anything that J.M. performs in his business.
My comments are not intended to deminish any service that J.M. offers

I am only offering alternative ideas and suggestions.

Re: Manifold coating

Mine were ceramic coated and painted with Eastwood's Manifold grey paint.. They look very nice.. I have had them done about 2 years now and have had no rust issues.. I like them looking this way..

When they start to rust I will let them go and then they will look "correct" as it did back in 1970 & discussed earlier in the thread here. Mine will just stay painted and fresh looking a little longer due to being ceramic coated and painted, longer than what came out of the factory!! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif

Re: Manifold coating

Curious to SEE or Read, as to how Ceramic Coating (like Jet Hot ???) changed the complexion of cast iron......how it changed the porous look and rough texture of sand casting ?????

Thanks,

IMHO....Don't put a thing on them. Rust is correct.Find a nice set and glass bead, tumble them, then leave them to mother nature. That gray cast paint, coating, whatever just looks like a$$ on a resto.... Flame away guy's!

Jerry M. can do it as well as the intake, does great work. Cost is approx. 400 for a set I think.

Jerry did mine seven years ago, and they still look great (photo below). I've had good luck on other cars with Eastwood's "Factory Gray" coating, after lightly blasting to get a clean surface; excellent durability, no touch-up required. Calyx requires regular touch-up, never dries, and judges don't like it - it rubs off on anything that touches it (like white shirt sleeves https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/mad.gif ).
