Re: Anyone have info on Dave's New Big Block Nova?
Thanks Bruce,
This is the 1970 Nova SS 396/375 I ordered new when I was 19 years old. I did end up lowering the car after the balljoints started to rip through the upper A-frames with only 2300 miles on the car. Dave L. SoCal |

Re: Anyone have info on Dave's New Big Block Nova?
I am in fact working on more info for Dave. Nova came out of Berglund Ashville/Jamestown NY, same selling dealer of my '67 435 Corvette. They sold some hi-po stuff and exist today as Shults Chevrolet (nothing left, I tried long ago). Bruce Smith, attorney in Akron area is the guy who bought it at Canfield (330-821-1430) from the Erie guy, Haines. I am trying for some earlier history on the car.

http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...avesdaytwo.jpg [/ QUOTE ] Looks mean! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif Brings back lots of memories. A highschool class mate came back from the Navy and bought a '68 L-78/M-22 Chevelle. That car didn't last long. Didn't stand up well to a 48" Oak Tree at the edge of the road on a foggy night. Killed two of the three guys in the car and the owner/driver lost a leg in the accident. Before he was back on his feet (no pun intended), he had ordered a '69 L-78 M-40 Nova. He took delivery before he could drive again so I spent a ton of time behind the wheel for him. Low option car with buckets but no console; F. Green with black guts. This car looks VERY similar. We've tried to track that car but are pretty well convinced it's now in a cube. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/crazy.gif Driving an L-78 Nova makes you grin a lot! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif |
Re: Anyone have info on Dave's New Big Block Nova?
There's been a lot of banter about the "back in the day" look vrs the stock look, and I think part of the reason there's kind of a raw edge to the issue, is that a lot of us "geezers" lived the day. The cars, and the times, and the history at those moments have special meaning to a lot of us. It really isn't something that you can actually convey in a discussion. Mr.Cumby, I think you (we) should change the "we get it" to "you had to be there to understand". BTW very cool deuce. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif

Bill
"And you know what will undoubtedly happen......now that you have this one, the guy in Erie will call you in the next couple weeks or months and finally decide to cut loose with your old car Murphy's Law!" Don't worry too much about that happening as Dave could buy all of his and my old cars back. Not like some of us struggling to afford lugnuts. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/burnout.gif |

Re: Anyone have info on Dave's New Big Block Nova?
Wow! Slap a set of cragars on it and it looks just like my Nova from back in the day. I love the white pinstripe too.
