It's a giant shell game and we're the peanut.

Has been that way for years and unfortunately I'm usually on one most weeks.

Flying any airline today is like riding a Grayhound Bus 40 years ago https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/tongue.gif Flying the airlines now totally SUX https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...thumbsdown.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bs.gif
And that's not how I really feel.

Try this to avoid checked baggage charges, take your bags with you to the gate, like it's going with you as carry-on luggage. When they tell you that you have too many bags to carry on, ask for then to "gate check" them. They don't have the ability to charge fees at the gate. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/scholar.gif

But they do when you go to claim,as I had to do this at Phoenix Sky Harbour,Southwest Florida International,O'Hare & Midway airports recently due to my misjudgement.
Each time my extra bags were held back from the others after landing and I was approached by an attendant asking me to follow them to a customer checkout counter.
I had to pay them then & there or no bags for me.
They are a savy bunch. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/wink.gif

Business 101: We reserve the right to cheat the customer but the customer must not be allowed to cheat us.

Think getting on a plane sucks now? Foreign ownership is steamrolling its way through Congress and will become reality once the proper wheels are sufficiently greased. You think American CEOs are penny-squeezers? Wait 'til the Chinese take over a few airlines. I'll put my cars up for sale here first.

Save Today, Fly Tomorrow
Pre-Purchase Your Checked Bags Today & Save
Dear CHRISTOPHER,

You still have time to save 50%! It's not too late to pre-purchase your checked bags for your upcoming Spirit Airlines flight. Beat the rush and save time and money in the process. If you purchase your checked bags now, you can still do so for $5 each way. But hurry, effective February 20, 2008, the new checked bag rates will be $10 when purchased online and $20 when purchased at the airport.

woops, looks like I screwed up again

I absolutely HATE flying and have an extreme fear of it.. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/ooo.gif I think it is a control issue.. I would much rather drive somewhere even though it is usually safer flying, so they say..

I'll do it if I have to, but won't like it..... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif

Re: New Bold Airlines

My previous job when I was in college was performing line service on corporate jets and believe it or not I would go for "ride along" flights and was not fearful because I knew all of the pilots well and felt comfortable around the jets due to working on them. I also worked with the mechanics and knew how well maintained the planes were..

However, other than Continental and Southwest I am really leary of flying.. I have 2 friends that fly for those airlines so I know those planes/pilots are good to go https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif
