Kasey...I didn't see the final price but there was a corvair wagon that I think I saw at about 8K before I got sidetracked and didn't see it end. I thought it was strong money for about a 64 wagon.

There was a red 1979 TA, 400, 4 speed (desirable) w/ 300 miles that sold on ebay a few months ago. I think it went for mid 30's. I had a '79 403 auto in 1979. Kept it for 3 months - total POS. I alway thought the '79 400, 4 speed was considered the last "desirable" TA. It is to me anyway. $63k for a 301 turbo is shocking. I am so priced out of this hobby.

Un-verified, but I have heard that in Vegas the casinos put "plants" at slot machines in high-traffic areas that win a lot...

I know nothing more than those cars were about the worst GM F-Bodies ever built; they are total crap, no performance, rattletraps with tacky decals. I don't care if it had 7K miles on it, whomever bought it either wanted their 20 seconds of fame, or won the Powerball.

Any early Turbo T/A or Formula is a candidate for worst car ever, and viable evidence of approximately when GM de-railed.

Don't sugar coat it,how do you really feel? Seriously though at 70k with juice that's about 3X what that car would normally bring. For the same coin you could have a 10th annie W72 4spd with similar mileage AND a Y84!

A good friend of mine has a 81 TA SE 301 non turbo.....neat car but guttless..I remember a quote from a mag back then that said Pontiac managed to turbo charge a V-8 and still couldn't find horsepower... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif

Well I have had experience with those 301 turbo's and not only were they turds, but the turbo would not last 50K miles. The only way a turbo T/A is worth 63K is if it has 62K cash in the trunk!

it doesnt really matter what the fellow paid, it was his money. the car was immaculate and beautiful, coupled with the fact it is in the most desired color combination. if this car ran 14's from the factory we would be wondering why it went so cheap.

This kind of thing kills me because I wanted a '79 TA. I always liked the looks and thought a 400, 4 speed might be a great low cost entry into the muscle car hobby. Now everyone that owns one is going to think it's worth $60k.
