Re: Mecum Auction in Florida at the end of January
Dave,
Good to hear from you. Your cars are looking great! They run tomorrow afternoon prime time. They are being well tended to. I am confident that all your cars will find a new home tomorrow. When I left the auction late this evening, the sell rate was approx. 70%. Based on Scottsdale and what I have seen here thus far, good cars are selling. I have been trying to buy cars for some customers and the prices have gone beyond our expectations. Tomorrow is the big day. Lots of high end cars. I hope your feeling well, our Prayers are with you and your family. |
Re: Mecum Auction in Florida at the end of January
Dave,
Good luck with the sale. I can only hope and pray that they go to good homes and to someone who will cherish and enjoy them as much as you and your family did/do and they continue to be shown and enjoyed by the new owner. Your restorations are a testiment to your dedication to the hobby. If you handle this the same way you do your restorations, this little demon does not stand a chance. Likewise, our prayers go out to you and your family from all your friends at Yenko.net. Just today I was delivered a similar blow from a family member so I now fully understand your families pain and concern. |

Dennis, yes you did tell me and I never doubted this bunch. I've been overwhelmed with the offers for help, well wishes, prayers, etc. This all comes from people I have met, but also from some whom I have just chatted with. I believe this is one of the "tightest" groups of real car people out there. Thank you.
On the whole, I was happy with what my previously owned group of cars did at Mecum. I sold nine cars to an individual who placed six in the auction. I had no risk since I was not the consignor. Risk is not something I can tolerate for my family at this stage. With this sale and the sale of a few others this past year (67 Z, 67 L78 Camaro 10k mi, 70 LS6 18k mi, 70 SS396 12k mi and Z16s) I am down to just a couple of cars my family will keep including a 69 SSRS 396 conv I first bought in '79 and was married in and a 67 SS396 Chevelle project that my son and I hope to have done for the Gibb show. The attached photo shows me touching - for one last time - the Z16 that was hardest to part with........ Dave |
