Re: Unique Performance seized today!!!!!

In Minnesota I could go pay 10 million or what ever dollar amount I wanted and when I go register the car its just a flat rate as long as you register it as a collector car. Just a little of $100 buck with the new plates.

Do you not pay state tax on old collector cars?

the real story here is about the people who have spent 10's and 100's of thousands on cars which they will never receive.

i can't feel bad for somebody that should have known better than to give up that kind of cash and get nothing in return but a promise.

[/ QUOTE ] I cant imagine a state that would only collect 100$ sales tax on a car you spent 10M on because it was an antique[that is unless you shoiw them a 5000.00 bill of sale on a 30 mile hemi cuda convertible, because they dont know its a 6 cyl or a 5M car]?? I do know the property tax would only be a minimum amount if you get antique plates on it. But not as far as sales tax goes. That is unless Minnesota is the only State that allows that.

In GA there is no sales tax on any used car regardless of the year or the amount you paid, but only if purchased from a private individual. So a $2 million '71 Hemi Cuda Covertible wouldn't cost a dime in sales tax if purchased from a private individual. If you buy from either an in state, or out of state dealer, then you pay 7% of the purchase price. Collector cars are taxed about $20 per year for proerty tax purposes.

King, There isn't any sales tax on vehicles sold in Georgia as long as it's between individuals. Mark

Re: Unique Performance seized today!!!!!

Thats the way minnesota is.. if you register a car as a collector Its a flat rate.. I believe it is $99 plus the plates and transfer fee.. it usually comes out to around $125 give or take a dollar or 2. Thats it!

I still remember when I transfered my 60 Mile Hemi Cuda the DMV ladies Jaw Dropped when she asked the purchase price. Still was only just over $100 bucks.

$1 or $10000000000 is all the same.

Doesnt Oregon have no sales tax on collector cars? I thought I heard something about guys from surrounding states getting p.o. box there just to get around sales tax. This was a few years back though.
