Re: Help with a Chevelle tag decode, please.

Not to put doubt the car in question but following senario comes to mind.

I know that DY and MO were only available on SS Chevelles in 69.... so what would the paint code on the trim tag be if you special ordered either of those paints through the FS&O on another chevelle or malibu? Would it read -- or 72/76?

Any known examples?

Julian,

After seeing your post, I checked my tag on my Black/Red Baltimore built Chevelle. Thought this might be of interest.

My Chevelle was assembled 06A with a sequence number 252680. It was delivered to the customer on 13 June. This Monaco Orange Baltimore car was built earlier (05D) with a later sequence number of 254777. I am sure some of the experts will have some thots on this. They were cranking the cars out back then so if the car had a "hiccup" and had to sit on the sidelines for even a little bit this may account for it. Also, if it has any bearing or not, the Baltimore plant was just wrapping up its strike.

Thanks for all the help guys.
I talked to the owner today and he is going to check the fuel line tonight.

I also asked him about how it ran when he drove it.
It either has a huge gear or he is telling a huge story.
He said it would lay down about 20 feet of rubber when he hit 3rd gear.

He said the car has been in storage for over 10 years.

assuming that tach has been in the car since it was brand new

[/ QUOTE ] Without a buildsheet, everything is an assumption as to its vintage of course whether it be the fuel line, the 410s,or the tach etc .

There are examples in the Nova world where a later body number received an earlier vin number, strange, but it happens.

None of them were beat on, that's why they retain their "original" engines https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/haha.gif

It has a single 3/8" fuel line.
