Re: OK, Finally, Jerry MacNeish Coming to town...
I agree, having an expert in the field look at/inspect/certify your car is money well spent!!! Even more so, if you have him/her do this prior to purchase

OK,
Looks like we have a good group of cars, eight or so. Also, we plan on taking Jerry out for some Nawlins seafood, so if anyone lives close enough and wants to join us, let me know. Rich |

Docing a car is pretty serious if it turns out to be fake later down the road... Ted |
Re: OK, Finally, Jerry MacNeish Coming to town...
So should nobody doc a car for fear of trouble down the road??

OK,
Looks like April 4-5-6 for Jerry. |
Re: OK, Finally, Jerry MacNeish Coming to town...
Mike,
I agree with you that it pays to have an expert inspect your car so you know what you really have or don't have. I am very pleased with the results of the recent inspection you did on my 66 Chevelle SS. Now I know what (minor) items I need to do to bring this car to a top level status. Thanks again for sharing your expertise with me and the many others in the hobby. PS you don't charge enough for what you do! Dave |
Re: OK, Finally, Jerry MacNeish Coming to town...
Mike is a godsend for us '66 Chevelle owners...I think I've asked him at least 100 questions...And I'm sure that there will be more!
Hey Dave...take that red beast for a cruise around your block!!! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/burnout.gif |
Re: OK, Finally, Jerry MacNeish Coming to town...
I'm curious, What is to stop the criminal element from getting a certification, selling the real car without it to someone who knows the car is real without needing a document and then making a fake and using the paperwork on that? Or even just selling off parts after the certification and then selling the car with the papers? Does Jerry take photos with a dated newspaper in the picture? In the days of the internet and people buying sight unseen on someones word does this make these certification papers an absolute proof and something you would bet all of your money on? I believe as technology gets more and more advanced, people can and will have the ability to make exact duplicate parts that even experts will not be able to differentiate from the real parts. At this point would it matter? I think it would to most.

Re: OK, Finally, Jerry MacNeish Coming to town...
I think Jerry keeps records of cars he certifies. If a cert comes up, you can always call him and ask if it is one of his (ie VIN).

So, you find a car on EBAG and it says certified by Jerry, you call him and he says he saw the car four years ago. Now, do you trust that everything is exactly as he looked at it four years ago. How do you know if the owner swapped anything out in that time or even blew the motor and dropped in a restamp? I think the certification is more for the owners piece of mind than anything else. |
