Re: Boston Vocalist
That really sucks!.
Their music is still in a lot of us from that era...sure reminds me of high school, girls, booze and more...the van craze?!. I saw them live once too...man that was over thirty years ago!!!. Thanks Brad! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif ~ Pete |
Re: Boston Vocalist
I never saw Boston in concert but, I did get to see the other band that some of the members created after Boston. That band, RTZ, had a similar sound and had some decont songs.
I still enjoy listening to Boston and RTZ; that music just brings back some great memories and, in my opinion, sounds as good today as it did way back when. Brad Delp never seemed to get the recognition he deserved as one of the greatest rock and roll singers of our time; he will be missed. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/headbang.gif |
Re: Boston Vocalist
Brad worked on a few other projects such as, Barry Goudreau first solo album, Orien Hunter, RTZ and his last was titled Delp and Goudreau.
In my opinion he was not the most famous, but his vocal capability is unmatched. He could be both a hard edged rocker or an amazingly sensitive ballad singer. We lost one of the really great rockers... |
Re: Boston Vocalist
I agree Steve...I had forgot about RTZ (Return to Zero). I even have one of their CD's. Time to pop it into the CD player on the way to work. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif

Re: Boston Vocalist
I like what the band's website said--they took the whole website down and replaced it with:
"We've just lost the nicest guy in rock and roll." Class act. Boston's Official Band Website |
Re: Boston Vocalist
I was afraid to get the "geezer" tag but I guess it's Ok to admit I had that first Boston release on 8track. I think I went through two of them before I switched to cassette. "Smokin'" was the theme of my 65 Impala SS vert. It was Smokin', we were Smokin'... well, you get the picure thirty years ago.

Re: Boston Vocalist
I had a chance to see Boston at the Long Beach arena back in '76 when they opened for the Outlaws. After that I had the 8 track in my car forever, their music will tag a time in my life that when I hear it I get goose bumps and the hair stands up on the back of my neck. I was 19 living in Southern California, with a job a nasty street car and the love of my life. ... oh, and of course I was Mr. indestructible. My how things do change. Bruce , can you find that tune Hitchhiker or is it Hitch'n a ride?

Re: Boston Vocalist
The only thing that really sticks out in my head is one of the girls sitting next to us had way too much to drink and barfed all over the guy in front of her. Also the Outlaws had what seemed like 6 or 7 guys on guitar, but I loved the way the voices of Boston matched the high pitch of the guitar. The sound was incredible and I'll never forget it.
