When I was 6 years old it was the coolest movie and car out there. Amazing how the times change. Now I look at it as FUGLY also.

Re: "Corvette Summer" movie car

Supposedly there are only 2 cars used in the movie, and the one at mid america is the backup car. The other resides in Australia, but it doesn't look like it did in the movie.

The mid america one was converted to right hand drive by moving the steering wheel and gauge cluster to the passenger side, and fitting a chain and gear drive under the dash, that was connected to another gear installed on a shaft that was attached to the steering gear. Looks like a real death trap. Certainly not something you would do any spirited driving in.

The car in the Ebay auction is probably a knock-off.

If you read the fine print (I mean it, literally!) you'll find this: This car was built for permotional use and a museum display. There were two car built for the movie and they are over $1,000,000.00 this is not that car.

Funny how they chose a big blue font for everything except that phrase. Mmmm, permotional... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smirk.gif

Maybe he meant to say permanently emotional and just shortened it to "permotional" https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif

Is it just me or what...More people find crazy ways to F up a Corvette than any other car ever made.Just leave them alone..PLEASE...Great car ..but as soon as you start screwin with em they look like a$$...

It's not just you Steve. I didn't like it then and my feelings haven't changed over the years. Also thought the movie was kinda lame.

(But I'm just old and cranky!)

Re: "Corvette Summer" movie car

I just barfed in my mouth... The movie is best described as rediculously-bad, and the car is somewhere far below that.

Seriously, the car has late-70's Oldsmo-buick headlights. Not much custom about that. And that chain thing-- Yeah.... There's an engineering marvel.

The entire mess should be categorized under "Why Bother".

Re: "Corvette Summer" movie car

From what I remember, the movie was stupidly foolish...from the magnetic scrapyard crane holding up a fiberglass car to the auto teacher being the auto theft ring mastermind...I think the broads were probably the best part!.

Personally I didn't care for the car then and feel no different now, sorry you guys who are into it...the sidepipes are kinda' cool though as they're somewhat reminiscent of the 63/64 Shop-Order Vettes?.
