Re: EBAY Motion Nova?????

Ok here is as brief of history as I can come up with.
I heard of a BB 375/hp 4sp project car, in Columbus Ga., about 3 years ago and went to take a look. It was a matching # project Engine and trans TOGETHER (Important part) in the car. He had bought the car just like that in the early 90's and it sat in that condition. I passed on the car. Fast forward to about August 2005. BB Novas are going up and I call to check up on said car. It's still there. I buy and bring home. The FIRST time the car was mentioned here was here https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/show...fpart/all/vc/1 I listed the car for sale here as a BB project I wanted to start the engine before I pulled it apart, so I did. It started an ran for a second and then I shut it off and tried to restart. It was locked up. I finally figured something was on top of the no.5 piston. Pulled out motor and trans TOGETHER (Important part again). Pulled the head and found 1/4 inch nut on piston barely even nicked anything. I did some research and traced the car through titles to Virginia. I never was able to reach any of the previous owners. Motion396nova had asked about he car several times. I decided to sell to him but before he picked up the car I contacted the the guy that had the car in the very early nineties. His wife answered the phone and remembered the car. She said did you know that the car is a Baldwin Motion Nova...... So she puts hubby on the phone and he tells me the guy from New Jersey he purchased the car from said it was a Baldwin Motion Nova. He also said is had a set of weird traction bars on it when he sold it. So I think nice story. But the car does have an ET rear cover 3 barrel intake and that 3350 stamped on the block and heads. I sell the car to Motion396nova and and give him all my info on the car. I stick the head back on the engine and then set the ENGINE and TRANS back in the the car (Important part again engine and trans still together). He take car apart and sends to machine shop and when the engine builder gets through he calls M396nova and says "Looky what I just found on the back of the block" MOTION PER. STAMPED IN THE BELL HOUSING FLANGE. He sent me the pics of the stamp and I posted the here. The car did not belong to me when the pic of the motion stamp was posted on this site. I was the owner when the question about the 3350 stamp on the heads and block was posted on this site, and no one had any info. motion396 nova talked to Joel and he told me Joel said it looked like his work and has continued to research the car That's all I know. Re: EBAY Motion Nova?????

Wouldn't you think the documents from Joel would make a drastic difference in the value of the car sold as is...and considering all info gathered so far would be money well spent before selling it? .
On the other hand and depending on what the reserve is also if the auction would continue fairly to it's conclusion, it could be a good one for a flipper if bought right and Joel's docs did come back positive? .

Is there similar rear engine stampings and front pad Work Order/Tracking type #'s on other known documented Motion cars? .

I know it wasn't intentional but nicely done how the car and eBay seller have both landed here without having the reserve needing to be disclosed? .

Who's got more info on the '68 Yenko mentioned? .

YES. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smirk.gif But just think, all of you guys had a shot at it when I listed it for sale here as JUST a 375/396. All of you blew it too..... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/haha.gif

Re: EBAY Motion Nova?????

I agree!! I eyed it up, but have enough on my hands as it is...

I think the current owner should get the rosen letter, especially since it's not a Baldwin car. The engine stampings are good, and indicates a later conversion, but it's best to get any paperwork you can from Joel - just pay him whatever he asks!

Marlin what makes you say this? If the stampings were on a vintage 427 or 454 yea maybe, but on the original 396 block? The heavily documented '71 BM Camaro that I owned that retained its Motion built LS-6 did not have these stampings on the block or heads. Does Joe G's 396 BM Chevelle have these engine stampings?

Secondly, it's just illogical that the car is advertised on Ebay as a likely Motion modified car and the Seller won't pay J.R. $2K to potentially reap an extra $100k+ in value after documentation. Doesn't make sense. Perhaps someone will take a chance and it will pay off. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif

I recall several people on this board were looking at the 68 Yenko when it was for sale a few years ago and there were apparently some issues. If it now turns out to be real, that's great. I'd like to hear more about it.
