You let me know when your throwing the next party for them and I'll be there to help! That would be like going to racecar heaven! I'm getting chills thinking about it. I remember my first Nascar race at Dover. The feeling when they dropped the flag and the stands were shaking. I'm sure going to a Trans-Am event would be even better. Ahh... maybe one day. [/ QUOTE ] I've lived near Laguna since 1970 and I've seen just about every form of motor racing there is over the years.Yeah...the sound of 40+ T/A cars racing to the green flag is very loud...and music to our ears. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif Another great moment there was when Ferrari was the featured marque @ Laguna (which happens about every 4-5 years https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif)and they lined up something like 25+ original 250 GTO's to take the grid.I was there with 3 of my lifelong buddies, two of which had traveled from out of state.Priceless moment to say the least. I'm really a drag racer at heart and I'm a regular @ Infineon in Sonoma for the NHRA races. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/burnout.gif |

Re: Vintage Trans-Am cars @ Infineon:
Thanks for the great pics. I hit this event every year to watch owners and racers who do a great service to the hobby by helping keep this tradition alive. Of course, I'm always rooting for #92 to win!

Re: Vintage Trans-Am cars @ Infineon:
Things I noticed about the Penske Camaro is the smash in the drivers floorboard, and red interior on a blue car. The car was supposedly delivered to Penske in a "body in white" I'd like to know if it has a Trim Tag on it.

[/ QUOTE ] I have a million pictures of this car on file but from the top of my head,I'm pretty sure it's got no trimtag.Brass tag on the rollbar yes along with the SCCA # tag. The car was recently restored by one of the original workers who was there when these cars were new.The Red door skins were on there very early in the '69 season (2 races only) when the car ran with the infamous vinyl top.Kenny is tempted to put the top back on the car and we are pressing him to do so. I will look closer to see what pictures I have.... |
Re: Vintage Trans-Am cars @ Infineon:
I'd sure like to see more pic's, especially of the suspension, drivetrain, etc.. The car really has some neat stuff on it. I'm really impressed with the way these guys keep the cars so historic. I was at a local vintage race in Utah this summer and the two Camaros racing at it were more like modern stock cars with vintage sheetmetal bodies, I was kind of disapointed.
