Pete,
As for the "L-37", you may be right, I really don't know. I was going by an authentic Chevy list of options produced in '65, broken down by model. For the Chevelle, the list did not show any 396 engines optioned at all, only the Z-16 RPO. Maybe an orignal Z-16 window sticker might show a breakdown of all the equipment and list the L-37 https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/hmmm.gif Or maybe it was in some dealer ordering information which explained the option contents. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif
No offense meant to anyone. I was just trying to be factual. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/flag.gif

Re: 1965 396-425HP corvette Z16 engine

I was stating that this could be used as a Z16 motor as well as being used as the original 396-425HP set up that is originally was. The casting numbers are all the same and the chevelle used a different carburetor number and exhaust manifolds as well as a different distributor but all of the main components I have advertised could be used for one application or the other. Maybe it was my error to advertise it the way people advertise this on ebay. I see chewhoe in California selling these blocks decked and as a long block minus the intake as a corvette or Z16 applicaion because the front pad information is misssing. I wasn't trying to confuse anyone just stating the facts that the casting numbers are interchangeable.
