do you think the handles still had oil on them from being raw steel before they were tweeked into a handle???..I have seen other stuff where it was not prepped hardly or at all and the paint soon falls off..at least thats what I have always kinda thought on them...

I also have seen the blue'ish handles but seems like they were roughly 70 and later????

From my 70 Nova with a 04A build date, looks like the jack was used once or twice at the most.

The hook says "CHEVY II 1968" and had a mfg stamp of TTD, it's dove grey.
The base is darker on the bottom than the top and has no mfg stamp. The base has a greenish tint to the grey paint.
The jacking mechanism has the same greenish tint as the top of the base. Has mfg stamp TTN on the up/down latch.
The rivit is stamped "0C" .
The mast is a tube shaped like a yeild sign and has gold tint cad. Stamped "Patent 3163925".
The rubber sleeve is one piece and 24" long.
The jack handle/lug wrench is definitely black and still has most of the paint left on it.

It's a real "survivor", sorry Bloomington Gold guys. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smirk.gif

I sent Bruce a couple of pics of the jack handle which shows pretty well the bluish color of the remaining paint. There does appear to be some black under the paint, perhaps primer? It's possible the difference is due to vendors.
The base, and mechanism are the same dove gray with, as stated above, a slight greenish cast, but seem to be a baked on enamel, as you can soak them in thinner with no, or very little paint softening.
None of the jack masts I have are very consistent. Some are very gold, some more silver. I think it depended on the day they were plated, and the chemical mix in the tank that day.
