Dave the part number is correct for a 68 on your upper hose but the letter code is not right... JR is the 69 letter code, UY is the 68 letter code. The factory photo of a 68 Z engine compartment in Jerry's book has the part number about 1.5 inches tall and the hose has a yellow stripe down the length at 12 o'clock.

Here is a 68 Z28 Original GM Photo... this is from McNeish's book. Note the size of the lettering on the hose. https://www.yenko.net/photos/data/500...hoto_small.jpg

There isn't going to be a "right" hose. Fonts, locations of lettering and stripes, stripe colors - all vary with the different mfr's and dates or batches that were made. Pick a known original hose or factory photo and duplicate it. Glad to see the interest in these details!

You inspired me to do it right Dave... LOL
As far as the no "One" correct hose... I have begun to figure that out... WOW I have collected more pics of hoses than I thought humanly possible.
I am really just tired of paying for reproduction pieces that are no where close to correct.
It is insane that the resto guys charge stratospheric prices for crap that my 2 year old niece could tell is different than the original...
Wish someone would start a resto parts company like Ames... where they would tell you whether the part was exact... so so... needed alot of work... or not very good but the only thing available. At least then you can make an educated decision. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/scholar.gif

Thanks for all of the help everyone... I have identified at least 3 different hose markings used during production and I am in the process of having stamps made for 2 of the uppers and 1 lower... it may be a few months as I have been extremely busy at work and have not had too much free time to do what I want to do... PLAY WITH CARS!

My lower rad hose is the same as Dusk Blue Z,s post. I did some measuring and the GMAU starts 2&5/8 from the end and go,s to 3&5/8th, ( 1" in length) It face s almost straight up from the lower neck rad outlet. The GMAU letters are 3/4" tall. You would read it from the centreline of the car if you were standing from the front. The part number is below the GMAU. The part number only has a few digits visible. It also has the stripe but i would say the colour ( whats left of it) is more white? than blue? The stripe had lots of little stripes along the length and they are trapped? by a upper and lower continous line the hole length of the hose. I have owned the car 33 years, 44,000 miles. I took the hose off the car a few years ago, it had some weather cracks and i did not want to risk using it. My top hose is long gone. My car is 06A by the way. Hope this helps somewhat. Mike.

James, have you determined a source for the correct hose itself? It seems the originals had a rough texture to them as opposed to the smooth reproductions.
