Re: Old Car Movies
A newer movie with enough car culture to keep me interested is "Dazed and Confused". Set in '76, but enough late '60's and early 70's muscle to make anyone grin. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/headbang.gif

Re: Old Car Movies
-------I dont know about you guys but all of us that used to work at Classic Motors used to get together and build partys around seeing "Used Cars". Talking to any of them today you will find out we all still think its hilarious. There arent any chase scenes, but the movie just has so many points of reference for us old car nuts. It was just on a couple of days ago. Catch it if you can and tell me you didnt laugh.........Bill S

Re: Old Car Movies
Another movie that made me https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/mad.gif was McQ with John Wayne.
He should have stuck to horses ( the real onese ! ). They destroyed his beautiful 2nd generation Trans Am in that one! Almost made me cry. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/frown.gif |
Re: Old Car Movies
What about Thunderbolt and Lightfoot? Didn't they ruin a Trans Am in that one, too?

Re: Old Car Movies
"The California Kid" with Martin Sheen driving the flamed black coupe was a good one also.

Re: Old Car Movies
All cool movies! I can see the collection growing!

Re: Old Car Movies
French Connection still has the best car chase scene I've ever seen.
I also like the Burt Reynolds movie, White Lightning. He had a brown [Chrysler] see-dan with a 426 hemi provided by the FBI. |

[ QUOTE ]
BTW.. The stuntman who drove that tractor/trailer in this movie, was the great Carey Loftin.Seen here on the far right, next to George Barris on the set of "The Munsters". http://varaces.com/data/images/featu...tDrivers1a.jpg "As a stunt driver and stunt coordinator, Carey Loftin helped create some of the most exciting and famous chase sequences in history. His body of work spans 5 decades and includes classics like The French Connection, Bullitt, Vanishing Point all the way up to more modern favorites like Used Cars and Days of Thunder. When Loftin worked on Bullit, his fellow stuntmen said "Carey Loftin was easily the best car man in the business..." And that fact was proven time and again throughout his lifetime. He died in 1997 at the age of 83. [/ QUOTE ] There was a cool chase scene in the movie " Aganist All Odds" Where a Ferrari and a Porsche raced across Sunset Blvd. Carey Loftin drove the Ferrari. I think he was in his 70's at the time. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif |
