[ QUOTE ]
Speaking of batteries... where can I find a new screw to connect the battery cable to the battery?
The one I have on the '70 is badly stripped and needs replacing.

[/ QUOTE ]Dan, I believe some good automotive stores may carry what you need. NAPA,maybe Pep Boys or National.

The different size pos. and neg was to keep people from getting the cables crossed, with the new side post batteries. Didn't take long to go the same size for both. This explains why the negitive end of my original cable was cut off and a univeral clamp on type was added. the first time the battery was changed they had to.
The negitive cable is a reproduction, but it's the exact cable and length and number as the original.

Bet a lot of owners/garages did that when replacing these batteries back then.I still cut the Neg. cables off the 1970 vehicles, equipped with side terminal batteries,if I see them in the bone yards today.
The guy I bought this from told me his parts counter buddy got this Battery for him, because he noticed they were phasing out the R79 for the new terminal R89 Battery.
It sat in his Basement for nearly 30 years.
