Re: how many cars are enough?

I built what I thought was my dream garage 8 years ago. 1700 square feet layed out to hold 6 cars. We now park one car and a Kubota in there. The rest is my kids motorcycle crap, old furniture, Pool table, shuffleboard table and just stuff. Then I build my dream shop. Traded my 70 Hemi Cuda, Lemon Twist yellow frame off 4 speed car at $44K and money for a used 80'x100' shop. I have 4 project cars, a car trailer, kids boat, old steam engine, old tractor, Kubota tractor, tons of old furniture, car hoist and a bunch of crap in there. Even put a second floor mezzanine in that is 1500 square feet. It looks like crap in there with all the crap. Then I do the new car barn at 5000 square feet and it is filling up fast. Whatever you build it will fill up fast. Then it will start to piss you off.

One is more than enough for me, and I can barely afford that the way prices are going anymore.

Same here. But, I can imagine having five to ten cars and having my hads full keeping them running and enjoying them. Don't get me wrong, I'd find a way to do it, but 10 cars max would be fine with me. Don't ask me which 10 I'd want!

My 3-car garage suffers from the same crappy buildup. I have to go out there about once a month and spend a day throwing out crap, cutting up cardboard boxes for the recycling bin, and just generally keeping it clean and reasonably organized out there. One thing I will not do is stack crap on my Camaro! That is just blasphemous. I've begun selling my old model car and airplane kit collection on eBay and it's been opening up a lot of space in the garage. Feels great to get rid of crap plus make a little $$$ at the same time.

Charlie, you can not fight the number one natural law of the car world. "Stuff/junk will accumulate to fill any given space". Our garage and barn are both full upstairs and down. I gave up fighting it about 40 years ago. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/wink.gif

It's easy to build a big enough garage/building for your cars/crap...just spend every cent you have on the building, that way you won't have any money to accumulate more stuff...granted, I think some guys would end up with a garage the size of a stadium, but then you have a goal to shoot for - try and fill'er up... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif

When I had 4 collector cars,I never could seem to get them all running at the same time. Now that I've sold one,it's still a huge chore just to keep all of them maintained...let alone drive them all on a regular basis.Weird stuff seems to happen when you don't drive these cars regularly.

I cannot imagine how some guys do it with multipule (more than 4) cars...I just don't.
