Re: 69 Camaro find.

I think it was purchased in Iowa in 1987.

Re: 69 Camaro find.

There was a 69 BB car that left my part of Iowa in 1987 and went to Minnesota. Long shot, but could be. This particular car was painted black with candy apple Z stripes, flat hood, and some strange little shrapnel holes in the floor from where a high schooler caused an M21 to come apart at around 6 grand. Car was sent to MN strictly for 1/4 mile duty. Not original colors (obviously), but original unknown by me. Find any black paint anywhere on it?

This car was purchased around 87 and it was a Maroon car with a white vinyl top (still that color). Thanks for the response though, what part of central Iowa are you from?

Do you know any history on the car before it was in Iowa. Ed

Ok - I did find out that it does have a small block heater core - I will get the remaining info as soon as I can. Looks like best case scenario that it may be a SS 350 or Z car?

Re: 69 Camaro find.

Ok - the car has one large fuel line, it is possible the 12 bolt is original to the car - I could not find the stamping but it it dated I 28 8, the car was built 4th week of october. The engine and tranny both look to have come out of a 71 Chevelle Ls-5, tranny is a 72CR and the block is a 289 casting CRW stamp. Car runs real good and is pretty nice. I put it on ebay for him - my user name is mbahnsen if anyone wants to see pics.
Thanks
mike

Re: 69 Camaro find.

If original to the car, the one large fuel line could
indicate one of two things: A Z/28 or an L-6. The heater
core configuration should rule out a big block for you,
unless someone swapped it ( WHY ! ).

The 12437NOR140505 trim tag could be either 6 or 8 cylinder
so you need to look at the VIN on the dash. If it starts
with a 12337, you're looking at another converted L-6
Camaro. If it starts with a 12437, this indicates an 8
cylinder so that should rule out the 6 banger.

I believe L-6 cars got a 5/16 single fule line. Z's and
L/78's got a 3/8 single fule line. L/48, L/35, and L/34
all got the double fuel line ( 3/8 feed, 1/4 return ). I
really have no idea what the standard V-8 2bbl Camaros got
in the way of fuel lines. Anybody know? Probably 3/8.

The rear date appears to be good for a 10-D-68 build.
The stamping should be on the front portion of the passenger
side axle tube.

I have heard that some Z/28's could have come with 5-leaf
rear springs. But I'll have to leave that to others to
debate. I'm not a Z/28 guy!

Early '69 327 2bbls and later 307 2bbls, also had a single 3/8" fuel line.

Thought that might have been the case. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/hmmm.gif
