Re: UNKNOWN SUPERCAR DEALER???
[ QUOTE ]
It is possible the car is what the guy says it is. I was here during that time and the big dealer was Central Chev. on Peachtree in what is now Buchead. There were not that many chevy dealers in the area at that time. I would want to see concrete proof. BTW - Central was where I bought my 70 LT1 vette as it clattered off the truck (solid lifters). [/ QUOTE ] Great stuff...let's keep it going. I know there is more stories and pictures out there! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/headbang.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/headbang.gif |

Re: UNKNOWN SUPERCAR DEALER???
Roswell street? Hwy 9? I own property at 801 S. Atlanta street which is Roswell Road and Hwy 9 and sometimes called Roswell Street. Weird I know, but that same road runs from the heart of Buckhead to Lake Lanier.
I'll goggle it too. About the LT1. I bought a used 69 vette which was the biggest POS on earth. GM still didn't have all the bugs worked out from the 68 model change. My dad went with me to Central but there was nothing but convertibles and autos. I wanted a real vette. As we were leaving they were backing the LT1 off the truck. I had never heard anything like it. Traded the 69 on the spot. LT1 listed for $5,200.00 prox. |
Re: UNKNOWN SUPERCAR DEALER???
Not the same. That's the Roswell Street in Marietta. Don't anybody get started on all the different Peachtree Streets. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/rolleyes.gif

Re: UNKNOWN SUPERCAR DEALER???
Days Chevrolet in Ackworth, Georgia is a familiar name to us. The nice, original '67 Malibu that my wife drove for a few years was sold new there according to the original paperwork that came with the car. We e-mailed the dealership regarding the car but got no response.
Any dealership could do engine swaps if they were so inclined. Motion didn't have any corner on the engine swap market. They just had more ambition and interest than most as did Yenko and a few others. Not too many people were inclined to do an engine swap and lose their 5/50 warranty on top of the cost of the swap. For most of us it took most of what we had just to buy the cars in the first place. |
Re: UNKNOWN SUPERCAR DEALER???
Eactly, giving up your warranty on a new car just for tinkering with it was yet another good reason to own a 55 chev.

Re: UNKNOWN SUPERCAR DEALER???
hey GRB, my 1969 L78 Camaro came from Central Chevrolet. I talked to the original owner who now lives near Ringgold. I found his name on some papers in the glovebox and did a search. He was very surprised his car was still around. He said he was in the Navy in 1969. He and his dad went looking at new cars. His dad liked to "negotiate" prices with dealers and talked the salesman down, so they bought the car. The car is a fathom green, midnight green vinyl top and standard medium green interior SS 396 with L78. It now has 72,000 miles with most of the original paint. I bought it from a guy in Cumming, Ga. who kept it in his basement.

Re: UNKNOWN SUPERCAR DEALER???
Bob - makes you wonder how many of our old cars are still out there doesn't it? I would guess your L78 lists for about $3,500-$4,000?
